Senior Scientific Software Engineer needed in Exeter £390per day ref 1393490

A recent round of permanent recruitment did not return the necessary level of experience required to deliver agreed milestones within the Artificial Intelligence for Numerical Weather Prediction (AI4NWP) project. The intention behind this role is to provide this expertise through technical leadership and coordination within a cross-organisation team of Scientific Software Engineers and Data Scientists, primarily by taking on the role of Scrum Master.

Senior Civil Litigation Lawyer (Remote) , £43.12ph PAYE - Reference: 5257238

Remote Working

The team requires an experienced civil litigation lawyer to assist our busy team with a varied caseload including property litigation, highways and general civil litigation (including debt recovery and judicial review proceedings).

There will be an expectation of some supervision to junior members of the team.

Candidates with previous Local Government experience will be ideal as this is a fast paced role and will require the successful candidate to take on an immediate and complex caseload.

Ideally have Experience of advising in criminal litigation, planning enforcement and/or education matters will be useful but not essential.

This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis

Senior Scientific Software Engineer needed in Exeter £390per day ref 1257028

The Met Office is looking for a contractor to develop platforms and associated infrastructure to support research, development and learning in the area of data science, machine learning, and earth observation. The key aim of these platform is to enable collaboration between partner organisations, with easy sharing of data, code and other assets in a robust, secure way. The person doing this work will explore creating such platforms using different hosts e.g. different cloud providers, private clusters, HPC including Monsoon , in a reproducible, reusable way using relevant “Infrastructure as code” (IaC) and DevOps tools and techniques. A key part of the work will be understanding, documenting and testing the requirements of users of these platforms, and understanding the challenges associated with creating, using and sharing environmental datasets. This role will combine elements of the infrastructure engineer, technical architect and software developer to deliver the desired outputs.

Responsibilities:

• Gather requirements for platforms and infrastructure for TDSA (data science) projects and hackathons
• Develop shared software environments (e.g. docker containers, conda environments) to support these platforms and hackathons.
• Develop trial implementations on cloud platforms, primarily AWS and Azure, and private linux compute clusters.
• Support testing of platforms by supporting trial projects and events
• Put relevant and appropriate security measures in place to protect data and other assets.
