Role Overview and Objectives
The CX Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining physical hardware and/or physical or virtual operating system platforms and provide proactive and reactive support services to maintain the availability and reliability of the client environment and application stacks.
Role Responsibilities
The CX Systems Engineer is responsible for (but not limited to):
- Installing, testing and maintaining systems software and firmware for assigned projects. Developing drivers for specialised software, such as graphics and communications.
- Monitoring performance system performance for all corporate platforms. Improving the performance of operating systems and firmware.
- Maintaining an automation first mindset and using of Automation tooling such as Ansible to administer servers on a day-to-day basis
- Working with a company team of hardware engineers, systems and applications programmer to complete projects to customer’s requirements and scheduled completion date.
- Assisting the sales force with pre-sales activity such as proposal preparation, systems demonstrations and presentations.
- Providing advice to customers on their systems software and related applications design and development.
- Remedy problems and provide technical consultation to users in line with the established support model.
- Conducting user requirements analysis to match customers’ needs to company products/services.
- Meeting client SLAs for system availability, uptime and reliability.
- Managing queues and tickets within the relevant, multiple ticket management system(s).
- Managing of supported services and supporting applications related to the client's application stack, running on the supported virtual or physical Infrastructure.
Knowledge
· Complete knowledge and full understanding of area of specialisation, principles and practices within a professional discipline.
· Advanced knowledge and skills in the MVS/UNIX/Windows or equivalent operating systems, and various operating software.
· An understanding of systems integration middleware.
· Understanding of planning and testing methodologies.
· Understanding of core Red Hat, Ubuntu, Centos, SUSE. Experience Cloud Technologies such as AWS and Azure; Linux operating systems (Server).
· Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors.
Experience
• 5+ years of systems engineering or related experience.
• Proven experience supporting the following in an enterprise environment, or applicable certifications: Linux Servers
• Ansible experience
