The role
As a Network Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our customers' networks, including those of the Ministry of Defence, Cabinet Office, and Foreign Office. Additionally, this position offers opportunities to further develop your skills as you gain experience in managing and operating Skynet, the MoD's military satellite communication system.
Day-to-day, you'll conduct health checks on our customers' networks and underlying infrastructure, delivering innovative solutions to any challenges encountered.
- Perform health checks of the network and underlying infrastructure
- Assisting other Babcock teams in test and repair activities
- Generating reports to validate network state and inform customers.
- Interact directly with our customers, communicating effectively via telephone and email to provide the best possible service.
The successful candidate will be expected to work an on-call rota, including weekend shifts, as required.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at our Corsham, Wiltshire site. As part of the role you will be expected take part in an on-call rota which can be performed on a hybrid basis but dependent on the issue faced, you may be expected to attend site.
Essential experience of the Network Engineer
- Good IP switching and routing skills, to CCNA level
- Broad exposure to the telecommunications industry in general
- Exposure to / familiarity with Linux operating systems
- Knowledge of digital broadcast technologies such as Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB).

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
