Location: Woodside School, Aberdeen
Duration: Permanent, Full Time
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
job purpose/about the role
To lead and manage the affairs of the school enabling the delivery of quality education through the appropriate involvement of the pupils, staff, parents, multi- disciplinary agencies and the communities it serves.
This will be done in accordance with the authority’s strategic plan, the school’s/service’s improvement/service plans, the national improvement framework drivers and outcomes, in accordance with current legislation and within national and local agreements.

Requirements
• Appropriate teaching qualification
• Full GTC (Scotland) Registration in the appropriate subject/sector
• PVG scheme membership
• Under Section 28 of the Education (Scotland) Act 2016, it is a pre-requisite for all
teachers taking up their first permanent Head Teacher position to hold the Standard
for Headship. If this is applicable to you, and you do not already hold this, you must
be willing and able to achieve the Standard for Headship within 30 months of taking
up the role
Responsibilities
• provide leadership, good management and strategic direction to the school;
• promote high expectations and standards through the provision of professional advice, reviewing professional needs and performance, and supporting continuous professional development of colleagues;
• take responsibility for providing strategic leadership for curriculum development, learning and teaching and meeting learners’ needs;
• take overall responsibility for improvement planning and quality assurance;
• act as adviser to the Parent Council and to participate in the selection and appointment of the staff of the school;
• work in partnership with parents, other professionals, agencies and other schools; and
• take overall responsibility for the management of health, safety and well-being.
• meet and maintain the professional standards which are set by GTCS Code of Conduct and participate in the Scheme of Professional. Update in accordance with the requirements set by GTCS
