To participate in the delivery of a countywide specialist LD nursing under the guidance of the lead Nurse by managing a caseload of clients with complex learning disabilities. To contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of learning disability services, including contributing to defined projects as delegated by the LDP management team via the Lead Nurse. As an autonomous practitioner to manage a specialist case load providing assessment, identification and treatment of the health needs of adults with a learning disability. To be highly proficient in the assessment, identification, treatment and management of the specialist health and nursing needs of the learning disability population. This includes risk assessment, assessment of complex conditions e.g. challenging behaviour including forensic issues, palliative care, mental health, epilepsy etc. To have a good understanding of the specific needs of the service user group including at times of crisis. E.g. during placement breakdowns, mental health and physical health relapses and periods of challenging behaviour. To have skills in conflict resolution and positive behaviour approaches. To plan, implement and regularly review integrated individual support plans for each client in conjunction with team members as appropriate. To have skills to input, analyse and present data/statistics to inform evidence based practice. To write timely professional reports/ records and action plans in line with professional guidelines that comply with CPFT and County Council record keeping policies as appropriate. To work to reduce health inequalities for people with a Learning Disability by working with partners in primary and secondary care.

Role Summary

Pfizer’s Machine Learning Hub is seeking a passionate, creative, and experienced machine learning researcher to design and implement new machine learning tools to accelerate drug discovery. As a member of our Machine Learning Research team, you will design new approaches to derive insights from Pfizer’s proprietary data and external datasets to generate testable hypotheses across the drug discovery continuum with a focus on extracting biological knowledge. The individual will also design, establish, and manage internal and external collaborations to advance Pfizer’s ML capabilities. The ideal candidate should have an outstanding scientific reputation in the field of machine learning research for computational biology and a demonstrated passion for solving biological problems relevant to drug discovery. Our team is located in Cambridge, MA, USA and Berlin, Germany and this role can accommodate an exceptional candidate in either location.

Role Responsibilities

Principal downstream application domains include indication expansion, target identification, disease mechanism elucidation, and partnering with practitioners in these areas to advance the state-of-the-art.

• Development and implementation of advanced machine learning models specifically designed for analyzing heterogeneous biological data. This includes data from genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other biological sources.
• Advance the internal machine learning tech stack to cope with spurious correlation, obscuring variation and inherent multimodality of biomedical, chemical, and ‘omics data
• Research, design and implement learning algorithms for analysis problems related to drug discovery
• Be an active member of a highly interdisciplinary team
• Conceive, execute and evaluate studies and experiments, interpret the results and present them to scientist in other functions
• Strengthen external visibility and scientific excellence through publishing / presenting work in reputed journals and conference/workshop venues and engaging with the scientific community

Qualifications

• Formal training in Biology, Computational Biology, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related technical discipline
• PhD and 2+ years of relevant research experience in developing machine/deep learning-based solutions and a sincere interest for computational life sciences
• Hands-on experience in handling, processing, integrating, and analyzing large heterogenous biological data sets related to industrial drug discovery research (e.g., sc/snRNAseq, ATAC-seq, genomics, proteomics, etc.)
• Proven expertise in developing machine learning for computational biology
• Highly creative person with outstanding problem-solving skills to tackle complex analysis tasks in a timely fashion
• Strong publication record and demonstrated contributions to the field
• Solid expertise with ML libraries such as PyTorch, Lightning is mandatory! Programming skills in Python must be top-notch. Experience with relevant libraries of the Python scientific stack is a big plus.
• Familiarity with GPU computing both on-premises and on cloud platforms
• Fluency with common version control tools and collaborative coding
• Passion and curiosity for data and proven ability to take ideas from prototype to production
• Strong interpersonal skills, distinct collaborative attitude, excellent written and verbal communication

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,900.00 to $166,500.00. ROLE SUMMARY

The Internal Medicine Research Unit (IMRU) is committed to finding cures for metabolic diseases and related complications. Our goal is to build a research team of driven scientists focused on developing a deep mechanistic understanding of the metabolic pathways driving obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and renal disease. Apply scientific and technical expertise to drug discovery programs to impact the future of new drug candidate development. The aim is to recruit a scientifically and technically strong research scientist proficient in in vivo and in vitro metabolic research models, with the ultimate goal of developing effective therapies.
 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceptualize and design experiments.

• Organize and conduct in vitro/ in vivo/ ex vivo studies independently (including preparation, data collection, interpretation, and presentation).

• Maintain awareness of scientific and technical developments in the field.

• Author manuscripts for quality publications in top-tier journals.

• Interface with an interdisciplinary team of scientists in the Internal Medicine Research Unit and engage in both target exploration and driving established projects in our portfolio.

• Quantify and translate experimental results to advance the understanding of how metabolic pathways and complex physiological systems are altered by diseases and how they respond to therapeutic interventions.

• Maintenance of laboratory notebook records and adherence to safety policies is strictly required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD with a minimum of 2 years of post-doc experience.

• Experience in obesity-related physiology is required (examples, CNS regulation of energy balance, muscle or adipose metabolism/function).

• Expertise in cell biology and physiology with emphasis on metabolism and signaling pathways is essential.

• Experience working with GPCRs and associated pathways is a plus but not required.

• A successful track record of scientific achievements through scientific publications and presentations.

• Candidate should be able to review literature to formulate new ideas and have the ability to work independently as well as with an interdisciplinary team of scientists in a highly collaborative environment.

• The candidate will have daily interactions with a team of creative and innovative scientists in a supportive environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Job Title: Senior Research Associate - Synergy

A highly motivated Senior Research Associate (SRA) in protein biochemistry and molecular assays. The SRA will be responsible for the production of condensate-forming proteins and carry out compound screening using our proprietary microfluidic platform, activities that are critically important to the success of our drug-discovery program.
