Alder Community High School is currently seeking a highly organised and enthusiastic Education Welfare Officer to lead the attendance strategy in school.
The role of Education Welfare Officer is a crucial role within school to ensure students attend regularly and have the best chance of academic success. This position involves early intervention to address absenteeism, ensuring legal compliance, and engaging with parents, carers and relevant agencies in order to create a supportive environment and maximise attendance.
The ideal candidate will have experience in leading a team, working with young people, and improving attendance in an educational setting. They should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to relate effectively to young people, and a commitment to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.
The successful candidate will be committed to the vision and values of the school, demonstrating these at all times within their role.
This is a permanent appointment which is subject to a 12-month probationary period.
The position is being offered on an either term time only or all year round (to be discussed at interview)
The normal hours of work are 36 hours per week: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm and Friday, 8:00am to 3:45pm. This includes a 45-minute unpaid break.
