Position Overview:
Position Objective: A qualified executive with experience in teaching and delivering individualized intervention to join our team of multidisciplinary professionals who embraces the best interest of child and youth. He/she is committed towards the methodical planning, coordinating and executing of all educational-related policies/programmes/activities. The primary role of the executive is to provide tiered intervention to children/youths in consultation with the multidisciplinary team to promote the child/youth’s academic and personal excellence. The education executive is also responsible for working closely with key stakeholders to plan, organize and implement programmes and activities for the children and youths, manage volunteers and conduct needs and outcome assessments to measure and enhance programme relevance and effectiveness to bring about quality service and standards.
The Job:
Key Responsibilities:
A) Delivers effective and efficient individualised intervention to children/youths
- Manage children and youths’ behaviour for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. - Create a positive learning culture using a trauma-informed inclusive education approach in the House of Wisdom. - Utilize data-based decision-making and evidence-based strategies to provide Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and intervention plans for the children/youths with their respective case executives and in consultation with the Education Manager.
- Working with the school teachers to identify learning objectives for lesson planning with differentiated instruction.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver small group intervention in Social Emotional Learning to develop learners’ social-emotional and life skills.
- Provide academic support for learners according to their abilities and in alignment with mainstream or special school curriculum objectives.
- Coordinate and collaborate with colleagues e.g., caseworkers, therapy team and external stakeholders e.g. parent/guardians, schools, tutors, and volunteer tutors to deliver effective interventions to increase academic and personal success.
- Establish positive, safe, and trusting relationships with children/youths, their families and school teachers to encourage academic and personal progress specific to their needs.
- Commit to the continual professional development of not less than 50 training hours in any 2 years, which shall consist of at least 10 hours in Pedagogy training to keep current with the latest skills and ensure professional competency, subject to approval by the immediate supervisor.
B) Plan, organize and execute programmes and activities relevant and beneficial for the children and youths.
- To communicate and work with potential stakeholders such as organisations, vendors and volunteers, to bring in appropriate educational programmes that meet the needs of children/youths.
- Track the attendance of participants of the programme and plan for the tuition scheduling of the volunteers/tutors on a monthly basis.
- Coordinate and/or support centre’s planned events and programmes.
- Develop and facilitate programmes that need support.
- Conduct periodic needs and outcome assessments to evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of key programmes.
C) Regularly assesses children’s/youths progress to modify instruction/intervention
- Make use of relevant data to identify child’s/youth’s needs, modify instruction, and report progress to all stakeholders.
- Summarize assessment results and incorporates information into an appropriate support plan.
- Prepare relevant submissions/reports on a termly or ad-hoc basis regarding children/youths’ learning, progress development and recommendations for intervention.
- Maintain updated and accurate records which adhere to high levels of confidentiality.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and maintain records on meetings with parents, school teachers, and internal/external stakeholders.
D) Provides consultation to volunteer tutors, school teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to foster greater academic and social/emotional skill development across all children and youths
- Manage volunteers; conduct virtual and on-site training sessions for volunteers.
- Offers ongoing support or training to volunteer tutor, colleagues, teachers, and parents in order to accelerate child/youth’s growth.
- Participate in a multi-disciplinary team of professionals by utilizing a problem-solving approach. - Prepare and disseminate professional resources according to child’s/youth’s needs.
- Establish and maintain ongoing professional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in order to maximize children/youths’ impact in all areas of development.
E) Development of teaching curriculum and resources
- Ongoing development and review of curriculum and pedagogy with instructional materials to ensure the education programme at House of Wisdom remains dynamic, evidence-based, and responsive to the learners’ varying needs.
F) Provide Academic Pathways Guidance & Career Guidance
- Provide education and career counselling to children/youths based on their learning abilities and career/academic aspirations so as to make good academic choices/career prospects.
- Coordinate, partner with/network with various Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) or companies for visits, learning journeys or taster workshops.
G) Supported Employment - Develop individualized employment plans with youth and incorporate input from the caseworkers when appropriate. Adjust the plan according to the youth’s needs and preferences. - Conduct job development and job search activities. Assess the client’s vocational functioning on an ongoing basis. Provide individualized on-site job coaching to assist youths.
- Provide education and support to employers, which may include negotiating job accommodations and on-site client supervision and support with frequent employer communication.
- Prioritize employer relations and solutions-based thinking through timely and proactive communication. Use conflict resolution skills to provide timely interventions. Return phone calls, follow up on job leads, and meet with youths consistently to resolve job issues.
H) Any other duties
- Review and update all educational policies, SOPs, programmes, children/youths’ education case file/data/information.
- Perform the secretariat role for planned and/or ad-hoc meetings where required.
- Perform administrative tasks related to volunteer programmes and funding applications for programme reporting and audit purposes.
- Take on any other assignment, project or duty as assigned by the Education Manager.
Candidate's Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience working within special education, providing learning support or community rehabilitation services for adults or youths at risk.
- Relevant qualifications in education, special education or psychology.
- Demonstrate flexibility, strong work habits, and a positive attitude, with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
- Knowledge and experience in profiling and delivering interventions for individuals with social-emotional difficulties are preferred.
- Experience in administrative tasks, including for fund application for programmes.
- Attend meetings and willing to take minutes when required.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday during 9am to 6 pm or 12pm to 9pm
The selected candidate is required to work in the evenings three times a week as needed.
