• You will serve as identification (ID) card clerk responsible for control over the receipt and and accountability for a variety of ID cards for active duty military, retired military, disabled veterans, military family members and DoD civilians.

This is a temporary appointment intended for seasonal work that is less than 6 months or 1040 hours from the date of appointment/service year. As a Biological Science Technician your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Takes and records instrument readings, performs standard tests, collects data, takes measurements and assembles information.
• Assists higher grades technicians with the operation of more sophisticated equipment or equipment systems.
• Assists in biological programs by performing animal husbandry duties for small wild mammals housed in captivity, such as cage cleaning, feeding and watering, as well as providing treatment for minor illnesses or diseases.

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level.
Analyzes, resolves, and processes all types of difficult and complex issues/problems for appeals and counsel cases including complex restricted interest and problem resolution cases on which assessment or allowance is restricted or prohibited by Internal Revenue Code and Regulations. Determines if the case requires restricted interest computations, net rate, expedite handling or other specialized procedures.

Analyzes data consistent with the applicable tax laws and regulations to resolve and process all types of difficult and complex issues/problems including the most complex restricted interest and problem resolution for Appeals and Counsel cases. Determines restricted interest rates, limitations, periods covered, allowances, overassessments, and potential overassessments. Calculates restricted interest for cases where taxes, penalties, and interest are due which result from application of one or more sections of law. Cases involve complex computations such as tax, penalty and interest, multi-year restricted interest, offsets from joint accounts to individual prior liabilities, net rate and adjustments to previous assessments.

Applies the relevant sections of the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations to determine adjustments and assess the impact and conditions such as net operating loss, carrybacks/carryovers, unused or related investment tax credits, net rate and accumulated earnings tax. Determines and computes the proper assessable and allowable interest considering the affected tax periods and varying interest rates. Computes allowable interest and the abatements of interest and penalties due to overpayments and/or overassessments. Determines portion of overassessment barred which statutory limitations are partially applicable. Completes related adjustment documents for cases where interest is restricted or prohibited and determines the disposition of overpayments.

Reviews case file upon receipt including tax returns, agreement forms/decision Tax Court Petitions, documents, workpapers, reports, and adjustment documents to assure that all prescribed documents are present, complete and consistent with case file information. Ensures that all necessary documents are properly signed and executed. Takes expeditious corrective action to process adjustments to the taxpayer's account including complex quick assessments, potential statute cases, non-master file cases, advance payments, credit transfers, manual refunds, termination and jeopardy assessments. Analysis often requires the examiner to verify complicated conditions such as those affecting taxpayer's account history and credit availability, AIMS status, and to retrace various tax computations (deficiencies and/or overassessments) and adjustments to previous tax, penalty, and interest.
Determines and initiates a variety of special processing adjustment documents such as for cases having non-masterfile or redefined periods, cases reporting joint return deficiencies for one spouse, cases involving separate returns changed to joint returns. Applies the law and regulations to verify, determine and control the statute of limitations on a wide variety of tax returns. Reviews and issues statutory notices of deficiency. Sequences the input of adjustment documents for entering interest credit transfers, taxes, penalties and other transactions to adjust the account properly. Schedules manual refunds and assessment dates consistent with??????? national, regional and local guidelines. Records actions taken in resolution of cases to ensure audit trail integrity.

Major duties include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Serves as a senior expert Acquisition Project Manager and concurrently independently leads and manages multiple highly complex and high-dollar value ($500M+) acquisitions from acquisition initiation through contract or Task Order award providing technical advice to the client, contractors, and Acquisition Procurement Center of Excellence (APEX) regarding pre-award strategies and activities. Identifies, analyzes, strategizes, optimally schedules, and tracks acquisition milestones to ensure that the acquisition satisfies client’s mission needs.
• Assesses and documents the appropriate acquisition strategy to accomplish the client’s requirement. Problem solves and incorporates expert and innovative solution(s) into acquisition activities and milestones as needed to resolve impediments to progress. As a Biological Science Technician your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assists in planning and execution of wildlife studies, censuses and surveys such as establishing schedules and procedures for accomplishing and reporting the work. Monitors and implement activities related to conservation, management, and/or control of wildlife. Captures, applies visual and radio tags, and gathers physiological and spatial data on wildlife.
• Assists in planning plants surveys and recommends plant management practices. Monitors and assists in control plant disease outbreaks, pest plant control, mowing/seeding activities and vegetation removal.
• Collects, assesses, and organizes biological and physical environment data from field investigations and reports findings to determine actual and potential impact on fish, wildlife or plant resources from development projects, restoration projects or habitat improvement projects.
• Use automated databases to enter, organize and perform preliminary analysis of collected field data, using standard statistical methods in preparation of wildlife and/or botany reports. Analyze and summarize biological data using a variety of database software programs or other presentation approaches, ensuring records are detailed, precise and accurately transferred (e.g., terrestrial, geologic, geographic, hydrologic, ecologic, and environmental data).
• Assist in preparing news release drafts for area media, and/or presenting informational or educational programs to individuals, local organizations, and schools.

The Assistant Section Chief is responsible for managing Provider schedules and leave. This person is responsible for Provider onboarding, education and training. He or She will resolve front line clinical care questions and/or concerns. The Assistant Chief will collaborate with the Service Line Manager to develop performance expectations for Physicians and complete annual proficiencies including Pay for Performance, FPPEs and OPPEs. Work closely with the Primary Care (PC) Service Chief to determine appropriate MCA labor mapping, panel size and PCMM FTE. This incumbent is required to work with other clinical services such as Specialty Care, Radiology, Mental Health, Laboratory, Urgent Care as well as GEC/CLC. Develop and supervise clinical education programs for PC Providers and Trainees. Participate in groups created for PC Leadership including VISN and National calls when the Service Chief is absent. He or She is required to travel to CBOCs on a regular basis as well as travel to conferences and meetings. This position will be 40% Administrative Duties and 60% Clinical Duties. This position may be required to cover intermittently, PACT teams and same day services as a gap and float Provider. Other duties as assigned.
