• Provide scientific leadership and expertise toward the elimination of risk of Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella, and other foodborne pathogens thereby reducing the risk of foodborne illness from the consumption of red meat.
• Identify solutions to high priority meat safety problems.
• Establish collaborative multidisciplinary projects with ARS and other researchers.
• Evaluate the influence of spatiotemporal, environmental, and wildlife factors on pathogen and antibiotic resistance occurrence and transmission dynamics in preharvest and postharvest production of beef and pork.

• Records a variety of physician's orders involving patient activities, diets, and medications, on a timely basis to various charts (Patient Profile, medication and treatment records)
• Identifies various chemical compounds, symbols and abbreviations comprising medication orders and accurately transcribes drug names, dosages, and times of administration.
• Initiates and receives telephone calls to obtain and provide information.
• Records telephone messages pertaining to such things as detailed laboratory reports, X-ray and test results.
• Recognize and refers urgent results to the professional staff for immediate action.
• Properly files the results of various tests in patients' charts as they are received, keeping the record of care current and accurate.
• Acts as the information receptionist for the clinic.
• Receives visitors and phone calls to the unit.
• Utilizes automated systems as required by the clinical area assigned (e.g., workload management system, DMHRSi, Clinical Event Review Module, OR Scheduling system, CHCS-I, AHLTA, Trace-View).
• Scans and files outpatient charts as needed.

• Provide an advanced level of specialized nursing care to critically ill infants.
• Observe and reassess patient's conditions; recognize and interpret serious situations; notify the charge nurse/and or physician and/or takes preplanned emergency measures.
• Assist with special potentially life-saving procedures performed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to include assisting with the placement of central invasive lines or intubation.
• Operate and monitor technical equipment such as transcutaneous oxygen monitors, ventilators, IV infusion pumps, etc.
