- Utilizes FMSS and related software programs to compile, organize and track all data collected to support the Park's Asset Management Program.
- Collects and analyzes data from a variety of maintenance programs such as FMSS, Project Management Information System (PMIS), Administrative Finance System (AFS), and Planning, Environment, and Public Comment (PEPC).
- Works closely with project developers to prepare accurate work orders and cost estimates using the Cost Estimating Software System (CESS).
- Prepares, reviews, and evaluates reports prepared from computerized and manual data management programs.
- Establishes, maintains, and updates a computerized inventory of fixed property and schedules condition inspections.
Fort Laramie National Historic Site sits along the Laramie River at the confluence of the North Platte River in southeast Wyoming. The fort consists of 833 acres. The site was originally established in 1834 as a fur trading post and from 1849 until its abandonment in 1890 served as the largest military post on the Northern Great Plains. During that timeframe, successive waves of American Indians, trappers, traders, missionaries, emigrants, soldiers, miners, ranchers and homesteaders interacted with, and left their mark on a place which became famous in the history of America's westward expansion. Today, park visitors are immersed in the historic scene and complex history through a variety of experiences.
Fort Laramie National Historic Site was the most vital post of the westward movement in the 1800's. The site consists of 46 historic structures and 832 acres. The current staff has about 15 permanent employees plus 10-15 temporary summer employees. Fort Laramie National Historic Site is located in southeastern Wyoming, 3 miles west of the village of Fort Laramie, and 23 miles west of Torrington (the county seat, population 6,200. The small towns have post office facilities, stores, schools, and churches. In addition to these, Torrington has medical facilities, and a Junior College. We are also 50 miles west of Scottsbluff, NE; 100 miles north of Cheyenne, WY; and approximately 3 hours from Denver, CO.
