- Serve as the valuation services expert responsible for cases that range in complexity from routine land tenure adjustments to unprecedented, technically complicated, and politically sensitive cases.
- Review appraisals submitted by staff appraisers and private fee appraisers to determine whether proper appraisal procedures, principles, and techniques were employed, and comply with applicable Federal laws and regulations.
- Exercise role as Review Appraiser and frequently determine adequacy of appraisals for unusual, very large, complex, and/or high value properties where application of conventional appraisal methodology cannot be applied.
- Prepare and/or review appraisals in accordance with appraisal industry standards, Uniform Appraisal Standards of Federal Land Acquisitions, Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, and agency policy and procedures.
- Provide leadership, coordination, and direction for development and administration of regional policy, standards, methods, and procedures for valuation of real property and real property interests for all functions and purposes.
- Develop and maintain liaison with other Federal, State, Tribal and private-sector appraisers, as well as professional organizations involved in real property appraisals.
- Prepare responses to sensitive and complex inquiries from a wide variety of constituents to resolve and/or explain.
- Prepare appraisals of land, or interests in land, including conservation or other easement interests for acquisition, sale, condemnation, donation, exchange, lease, and rental determinations for special uses.
- Take initiative to organize a workload, balancing interests and needs of clients and readjusting/adapting the workload and priorities to unforeseen demands and emergencies.
- Perform supervisory responsibilities 20% of the time.
