• Plan, execute, and direct the activities of the Health Records Department.
• Serve as the Privacy Act and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Liaison.
• Provide health record consultation, guidance and assistance to meet requirements of accrediting agencies.

Duties
1. This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19.
2. Performs hazard and risk assessment and conducts a complete incident analysis. Performs Basic Life Support. Initiates established medical protocols in providing basic life support. Performs noninvasive emergency procedures: conducts initial and on-going patient assessment and physical examination; maintains airway, breathing, and circulation; determines priority of care; monitors patient's baseline vital signs: performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED).
3. Drives and operates firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers, aerial ladder trucks, and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles.
4. Performs crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high and potential for becoming destructive is great. Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multistoried buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities.
5. Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities. Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

The AMSA independently performs a full range of duties to include answering phones, greeting patients, relaying messages to appropriate staff inside or outside the unit, scheduling appointments, including interpreting, and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines and community care processes. Major Duties:

• The AMSA is responsible for ensuring appropriate use of administrative support packages, preregistration, clinic appointment profiles, information security, insurance capture, verifying and updating demographics, the completion of text orders, and other critical administrative tools.

• The employee provides administrative assistance to clinical staff related to access for providing telehealth care; i.e., specialty clinics, prosthetic services, and imaging services.
