About you and this role
Join our dynamic team with a unique offering of a 24-month paternity leave coverage as a Mobility and Transportation Electronics TS&D Specialist. This exciting opportunity is based in Seneffe, Belgium, or Wiesbaden, Germany, where you'll play a crucial role in Dow Mobility and Transportation.
Dow Mobility and Transportation, part of Dow Consumer Solutions, enhances the reliability, performance and sustainability of transportation and industrial customers’ applications. Our silicone materials cover a range of elastomers for airbags, connector seals, under-hood and interior applications, high-voltage transmission, battery safety, lighting, and consumer products. They deliver critical attributes such as advanced thermal and chemical resistance, desirable haptics and reduced environmental impact. We combine insights into customer needs and market trends with deep technical expertise to deliver a broad portfolio of materials that perform to the highest standards and protect people and the planet.
As a TS&D Specialist, you support customer needs by assisting in the development of new products and applications. You provide technical knowledge on the performance, use, and handling of Dow products. In addition, the TS&D Specialist supports product development projects in alignment with the commercial business strategy, delivering high value growth through technical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within multifunctional teams to accelerate Dow's digital evolution
- Support project teams to solve chemical, material, and industrial related challenges through both fundamental and applied research
- Engage in diverse project work encompassing product and process research, application development, operations improvements, and supply chain optimization
- Resolve technology challenges using a scientific methodology, a multidisciplinary approach, and innovative thinking
- Utilize experimental design and modeling tools to establish structure-process-property relationships, expediting research
- Develop novel methodologies and modeling tools for simulating, characterizing, and optimizing technology development, with documented results reported in proprietary research reports
Qualifications
- MSc or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science, or a closely related field
- Proven track record of successful technical project management
- Fluency in English
Preferred qualifications
- Six Sigma training
- Proficiency in French, German, or another European language
- Experience with mechanical testing according to international norms and standards
- Proficient in one or more programming languages, e.g., Python, R, SQL or other data science environments
- Experience in Pandas (library), Jupyter Notebook, and Git
Skills/abilities/knowledge
- Knowledge about cloud computing, Azure AutoML, JMP AutoML, DevOps-based pipelines, Flask, and Dash is desired
- Understanding of chemical, polymer, and material properties, manufacturing processes, and supply chains
- Familiarity with machine learning, recognizing its applicability to industry and potential for value creation
- Managing confidential information and property (access to systems) properly
- Demonstrated high-level business acumen, effective stakeholder management and relationship building
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral
