We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist (or a newly qualified psychologist interested in a preceptorship role) to join one of the Complex Community Care Teams based at East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Service (ELCAS), Burnley General Hospital. The Complex Community Care Teams are innovative and dynamic multidisciplinary CAMHS teams, that provide essential mental health support to enhance the social and psychological development of young people who are experiencing complex mental health difficulties.

The multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) are made up of Consultant Child Psychiatrist’s and mental health practitioners who have skills in a range of therapeutic modalities/specialisms, including but not limited to CBT, Family Therapy, SFP, IPT-A, art psychotherapy, counselling and non-medical prescribing. The successful candidate will also be working alongside other clinical psychologists within ELCAS and will join a large network of clinical psychologists as part of the Specialist Network in LSCFT.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual, who has excellent relational and interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to working with children, young people and families.

Candidates not yet meeting all requirements for appointment at Band 8a can be considered for appointment at Band 7. Progression to the 8a pay band would be conditional upon demonstration of the required competencies via evaluation and job performance.

The successful candidate will work in one of the Complex Community Care Teams, delivering the highest quality, evidence-based clinical care and treatment for children, young people and their families. We are seeking a well-motivated Support Practitioners to join our outstanding service within the Intensive Support Team (Child and Adolescent Mental Health). These posts will support to children and young people with mental health difficulties within East Lancashire.

You will assist in delivering therapeutic care to children/young people under the direct supervision of qualified staff as well as delivering some of your role by call handling telephone calls from young people, families and referrers. To assist in the deliverance of therapeutic interventions that meets the needs of children, young people and families, including planning and implementing a package of care directly to the child, young person and family under indirect supervision from Extended Scope Practitioners and IST Clinical Coordinator.

Attend different sites to participate in direct assessments with qualified staff where indicated and on a rota basis.

Assist and contribute to the holistic assessment of children, young people and families including contributing to individual care plans, monitoring individuals and working clinically autonomously giving 1:1 contact on a regular basis.

To assist with the mental health assessment of children and young people who have been admitted to the wards or are in A&E following a suicide attempt or self harming behaviours on the self harm rota, and assist in the follow up as needed with other professionals involved in the initial assessment.

The scope of the role and the job description for the post is aligned with the national maternity support worker competency, education and career framework and enables opportunities to develop on an exciting career pathway.

Whilst the post attracts remuneration at band 3, a band 2 salary scale will be applied until successful completion of the band 3 competencies has been achieved. It is anticipated this would be completed in the first 12 months in post.


The successful applicant will support the maternity teams, undertaking a range of clinical skills such as maternal and neonatal observations and providing care to women and babies. Be responsible for the stocking and cleanliness of the area with particular reference to infection control, health and safety and audit. This includes bed spaces or consultation rooms and also attending to the nutritional needs of the woman and her baby. This will also include offering infant feeding support for which mandatory training will be given.

Part of your working day may also include working within, IT and ELHT Pas systems and will involve covering some clerical duties, tracking case notes, filing, answering calls, inputting data and notes scanning. Our Registered Service Manager will be working alongside local authorities, healthcare professionals and the families of the people we support as well as leading a team to ensure that people gain more independence in their daily lives and have positive outcomes.

You will be managing the day-to-day running of the service(s), developing and implementing person centred support plans, conducting care needs assessments, recruiting and inducting new colleagues, completing supervisions/appraisals, completing medication competencies and medication audits, attending mutli-disciplinary meetings, completing quarterly audits and reports, effectively manage the services P&L, ensure regulatory, legislative, internal and contractual requirements are met including relevant notifications and adherence to policies and procedures. You’ll be a friendly, dynamic and caring leader with a passion for the care sector and delivering the best support.
