Typical day as our Support Worker

• Starting the day with a cuppa and handover from colleagues, catching up on any changes since you were last on shift and the tasks/ support planned for the day ahead.
• You will be supporting customer with their identified support needs such as helping with cleaning, paying their rent/ bills, accompanying to community activity or appointment, or you could be supporting customers to learn and regain skills with daily living activities such as making meals, shopping, budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving on to independent accommodation when they are able.
• You might be arranging an in-house cooking group, BBQ or activity in the community such as a trip to Felixstowe for fish and chips.
• Supporting customers at times of distress and being resilient to support them

Job details

• Where we’re flexible with you, we do need to meet the needs of our customers. That may mean adapting your start or finishing times on occasion.
• Work pattern is a 4 week rolling rota, where you take your turn to work sleep ins and weekends.
• Although there are times you’ll lone work, we often have other colleagues on shift in the service or as part of our wider cluster services and an out of hours on call in the event of an emergency should you need some assistance.

Middleton Lodge provides specialist residential support for up to 10 individuals in a spacious detached bungalow in Middleton St George, Darlington.
We support adults with a range of needs including learning difficulties, challenging behaviours and autism.
What you’ll be doing:
• You will work as part of a team, ensuring a safe and caring supportive environment is maintained, which meets the individual and group needs of the people that live with us.
• Supporting with activities within the service and supporting to access the community.
• This role will include personal care support, medication support, additional 1:1 support and support with all daily living skills.
• Shifts will include earlies and lates. Flexibility will be needed to cover waking nights and holidays when required. Weekend working will be required.
