Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Being responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determining the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care (ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses).
- Delivering safe care to assigned patients, while developing technical competencies.
- Safely and effectively using patient care equipment.
- Correctly and safely performing nursing procedures.
- Recognizing overt abnormal signs and symptoms and/or changes in patients' condition and responding appropriately.
- Monitoring telemetry and responding to rhythm changes.
- Implementing physician's/provider's orders in a timely and complete manner.
- Implementing nursing interventions/orders in a timely and complete manner.
- Requesting assistance from co-workers when needed; knowing when to ask for help.
- Formulating a plan of care based on nursing assessments, using the nursing process, based on the ANA Standards of Nursing.
- Completing initial assessment of patient condition and response to treatment and initiating follow-up as needed.
- Including the patient and family/significant other in developing the initial plan of care and establishing goals.
- Updating plan of care with assistance as needed.
- Assessing patient's learning needs, learning preference and readiness to learn.
- Developing and implementing a plan to meet learning needs, instructing patients and families in basic health teaching and discharge planning.
- Documenting consistently, accurately, concisely, and timely.
- Evaluating and documenting patient response to interventions and progress towards attainment of goals and expected outcomes.
- Revising plan of care according to evaluations of patient's responses and outcomes.
- Using the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), Clinical Procedures, and Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) software per policy, as well as any future patient documentation programs.
- Working in a team format with NAs and LPNs, delegating and following up on tasks.
- Delivering medications using BCMA.
- Providing complex wound care.
- Administering blood products.
- Administering IV fluids, TPN, lipids, PCA, and managing multiple IV medications while checking for compatibility.
- Completing cardiac telemetry monitoring training and passing exam.
- Performing other duties as assigned
Preferred Experience: - Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- 1-2 years prior experience as registered nurse
- Previous inpatient care experience
Work Schedule: Compressed tour. Night shift, Monday through Friday, 7:30pm to 8:00am and 11:30pm to 8:00am. Every other weekend and rotating holidays.
