Job Title: Animal Care Technician (Teaching Support Officer)

CWA have an incredible opportunity to join our team at our Wisbech campus for an Animal Care Technician in Animal Care on a full-time basis (part-time or job share considered).
Our specialist companion animal care centre is home to over 200 animals ranging from livestock, exotics and companion animals which includes birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals. The role of Animal Care Technician is to work on a daily basis with the animals completing all husbandry needs and ensuring high standards of animal welfare, with part of the role supporting learners in practical sessions.
Our animal care courses ensure that our students leave us with the scientific, practical and administrative skills they need for their careers in animal care. This campus is really all about the animals and has a real community feel to it. We are passionate about our animals and the education and training we provide to our students- the next generation of animal care specialists.
You will support a range of classes and courses within the Faculty and Programme Area. You must have a Level 2 qualification in Animal Care (which must include practical elements) or in a related subject and have relevant industry experience. You must hold a Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE A*-C/9-4) or equivalent or be willing to obtain within 18 months of employment.

Position: Learning Support Mentor (LSM)
Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Mentor to join our team. Your primary role will be to support a visually impaired student by taking electronic notes, ensuring they have access to all teaching materials, and assisting them generally to access the curriculum, resulting in the student being able to participate fully in their learning experience and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with teachers and the Specialist team to support the student’s learning and academic progress.Promote the student’s social inclusion, self-esteem, and independence.Use your initiative to move the student to independence with tact and empathy.Adopting a flexible approach to meet the student’s needs.
Qualifications and Skills:

GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.Ideally, experience working with people with SEND.Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.Strong command of English, including spelling and grammar.Awareness of the needs of students with visual impairments.Reliability, punctuality, and resilience.

Cambridge Regional College are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Mentor to join our Service Industries department. Service Industries consists of Culinary Arts, Hair, Beauty and Makeup. Learners not only work towards qualifications but run commercial activity in great realistic working environments that mimic Industry.
As part of your role. you will work with lecturers to raise the learning and attainment of young people while promoting their social inclusion, self-esteem and independence.
You will get the opportunity to support students in all areas of the service industries department and assist them to access the curriculum, participate in learning and fulfil their potential.

The primary duties, tasks and responsibilities of this job role are to:

Empower young people to achieve their personalised learning outcomes, including Education, Health and Care Plan outcomes and targets.
Adaptation of class resources in order to ensure students are able to access learning materials, i.e. enlarging text, modifying carrier language, etc.Support students with the delivery of therapy interventions e.g. Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy following guidance and programmes set out by appropriate professional.
To work directly with young people to review their support needs, following the internal college processes.
Undertake appropriate training and development as agreed with the Learning Support Manager.

You will need to be able to use your own initiative while out in support of learners, dealing with situations with tact and empathy.
The need to be flexible in your approach is imperative.
You will need to be qualified to GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths and ideally have experience of working with people with SEND.

About our Department and the role: CRC is a really exciting place to work, and as we grow we are looking for caring, personable and empathetic Learning Support Mentors with a real flair for empowering young people to join our Learning Support team. The Supported Learning Department at CRC educate and care for our most vulnerable students. Every day is different and LSM’s can be supporting our students in a wide range of subjects that help to promote their confidence, independence, employability and self-reliance. You could be working with students in our college garden, with small animals or doing art, drama, music or wood work skills as well as supporting in cooking lessons and Maths and English. We are ideally seeking candidates who have experience of working in a special education setting or may wish to make the move from primary education or social care. A knowledge of supporting students working at Entry level and gathering evidence via RARPA would be an advantage. As part of the role, you will: Support students with a range of learning difficulties and other disabilities.
Enable reasonable adjustments to help students to engage.
Mentor students and encourage them to remain on task.
Model skills so that the student can understand the tasks.
Assist with Personal Care and health needs.

- Happy to undergo relevant training
- Enjoy working across college faculties i.e. supporting students on a variety of courses

- A team player yet also able to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
