The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in managing, contributing to and communicating findings of research projects. He/she should be a fast worker and have excellent research, writing/editing and trend analysis skills. The candidate will have ample opportunities to work on research and evaluation projects in areas such as support for lower-income families, sustainability, social mobility, employment-support as well as health and care issues in an ageing society. Domain expertise in one or more of these areas will be a definite advantage, as will technical skills and/or experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods and impact evaluation. Duties & Responsibilities:

• Guide junior members of the team to do continuous background research on Singapore’s evolving unmet needs landscape, and oversee donor and stakeholder value proposition decks, which, in turn, will inform CFS’s philanthropic programmes and practices
• Distil, edit and communicate actionable insights from in-house and external research reports/surveys in a clear, concise and compelling manner to non-research audiences
• Lead the evaluation and impact measurement practice within CAP
• Scope actionable external research and insights projects that align with CFS’s philanthropy philosophy and grant-making goals
• Work with external researchers, where necessary, to design and execute qualitative and quantitative studies that address key questions on unmet needs and challenges
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure that research insights are integrated into decision-making at all levels of donor engagement and grant-making
• Stay up to date with latest sector trends, and share knowledge with the team on an ongoing basis

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:

• Strong writing and editing skills – must be able to write and speak clearly, and deliver research content clearly to non-research audiences.
• Post-graduate qualifications in a research, social sciences or sustainability-related field or evidence of equivalent experience.
• Domain knowledge/expertise on economic, social, health and care needs in Singapore, or sustainability issues and/or the philanthropy sector.
• Ability to review and critically appraise data and empirical literature and construct theories of change
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a range of audiences, stakeholders, funders and partners.
• Ability to work under own initiative in a fast-paced environment with a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Skills and experience in evaluating the outcomes of community-based philanthropic or Government intervention programmes.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills
• Skills in other visualisation, research and analysis software will be an advantage
• Experience in writing/editing a range of content – for example donor impact reports, thematic reviews, articles, blogs etc.

The candidate will be a key member of the CAP team with a responsibility to oversee the efficient and effective running of CAP programmes, and provide direction and guidance to project teams.

The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in driving collective giving/philanthropic initiatives, with in-depth domain knowledge in one or more of the following areas – environment/sustainability, issues affecting lower-income families, education, skills training, employment-support, health and care. He/she should also have a data-driven understanding of effective and innovative giving strategies in any of the areas identified above.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively exercise creativity, foresight, and judgment in planning and delivering CAP collective giving programmes and bespoke philanthropy advisory services in a variety of philanthropic domains.This includes developing and implementing strategies, action plans and programmes to promote effective philanthropy in Singapore.
• Provide independent leadership on complex assignments and be able to guide 1-2 team members; including clearing copy and slide decks prepared by team members
• Uphold business and operational excellence at the Centre; manage budgets and monitor progress on KPIs.
• Develop a thorough knowledge of team’s needs to provide proactive, efficient, and expedient resources and support towards the collective growth of the team
• Oversee the end-to-end grantmaking process for new collective giving programmes and community impact funds
• Stay informed about emerging trends/needs, research and innovations in the fields of sustainability and social impact to continuously build pipeline of philanthropic opportunities and evaluate effectiveness of existing funds.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Masters-level qualifications in business, social sciences, public policy/health preferred
• Domain knowledge/expertise on one or more of the following sectors will be a definite advantage – environment/sustainability, economic, social, health and care needs and the philanthropic sector
• Strong communication, writing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a range of audiences, stakeholders, funders and partners
