Role: This position will be responsible for developing SQL queries for Power BI reporting as well as integrating other data warehouse information as needed by end users. The individual will also learn to run decision support reports and develop reporting views for end users as needed. Their SQL skills will also be used in auditing our interface data to sources within the EDW. There will be a high level of technical skills as well as a reporting component from our proprietary software we use. The analytical piece is important to ensure what we provide is accurate and audited . Someone with finance experience, ability to write SQL, Power BI development and analytical skills will be successful in this role . SQL, Excel, Power BI, standard Microsoft will be used in this position, experience is a MUST!

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides decision support business intelligence that may include cost accounting, financial planning, and payroll and productivity within the Financial Planning and Analysis team. This position manages large datasets and databases to develop and maintain the decision support system. In addition, the role requires working with innovative analytical tools while applying advanced data mining knowledge, statistics, and healthcare billing expertise. The position is the subject matter expert on highly complex reports, data repositories and source system interfaces. Responsibilities also include developing enhanced methods of data analysis and presentation, facilitating both quality and efficiencies to support strategic planning, leadership, and decision-making activities.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provide data warehouse management, business intelligence ideas, and maintenance of decision support software. Develop standards and operating procedures for technical processes. Normalize, validate, and ensure data integrity through comprehensive auditing and analysis.
2. Manages data accuracy through ongoing validation and comparison of data warehouse to operational activity. Aligns data communication with key stakeholders to ensure consistent data share and interpretation. Ensures precision in data compilation for informed operational decisions across Banner Health.
3. Work with multiple data sources and expected to troubleshoot data issues and other report/dashboard issues at a moderately complex level and appropriately escalate issues as needed.
4. Analyzes and reports on customer needs. Manages and supports the identification and research of new developments and uses of current systems and applications, as well as upgraded systems and applications such as Power BI, SQL, and Tableau.
5. Provides direction with technology partners to coordinate implementation and support for financial and clinical information systems to enhance current and future system functionality.
6. Responsible for Intermediate to Advanced level queries in Excel, Power BI, SQL (or similar language). Ability to work with advanced data visualizations for dashboard creation OR responsible for basic queries in SQL (or similar language) and proficient operational analysis.
7. This position works closely and directly with executive, senior and mid-level management at all levels of the organization to deliver BI solutions. Engages key stakeholders as internal customers through advanced professional level communication. Compares decision support data to financial performance and provides insight into interdependency.
8. Develop curriculum and conduct end-user training sessions as needed on the various application modules of the business intelligence, data warehousing and analytics systems.
9. Works on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Proven advanced analytical and modeling skills are necessary. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple projects that utilize sophisticated software programs. Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Position interacts with all levels of hospital and system leadership and staff, physicians, regulatory agencies, and vendors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess strong knowledge of business, finance, health management, statistics, and analytics as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree.
Must also possess seven plus years of decision support experience in healthcare or an equivalent combination of relevant education, technical, business and related industry experience. Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with changing needs and deadlines. Requires excellent human relations skills and the ability to effectively interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
Must be proficient in the use of sophisticated software programs, data interpretation and spreadsheet programs. Proven advanced analytical skills are necessary.
