POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. Goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age specific and educational needs of the patient in the plan of are. Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team. Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s status.

3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.

4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.

5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient's response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.

6. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.

7. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. Actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes. Such activities may include participating in professional organizations.

8. In some roles, this position may supervise staff and work flow of the department.

9.Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations. Our Med Surg Neuro Team strives for excellence in this fast-paced, dynamic setting. We are looking for a Patient Care Assistants to join our dedicated, multidisciplinary team. This position will require transporting patients during admissions and discharges along with handling patient information. There are day and night shifts available, the hours are 7:00am - 7:30pm or 7:00pm - 7:30am. Weekend and Holiday rotations are required in this role. Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential when applicable.

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheters removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring. Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.

5. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.

6. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient’s record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. Assists in the ordering of patient specimens. May transcribe and process physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.

7. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing personalized coordination, clarification and communication of all administrative aspects of care including patient needs assessments, insurance and authorization verification, registration, maintaining and handling of documentation, and scheduling of appointments. This position partners with the clinical care team to ensure a seamless experience for the patient and their family across the entire continuum of their treatment. CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs patient intake process, which may include pre-registration/registration. Partners with the clinical care team to determine initial authorizations needed based on the predicted care treatment plan. Obtains patient insurance benefit information for all aspects of the treatment, including, but not limited to, inpatient and outpatient services, prescription drugs, and travel and housing, if necessary. May also answer questions regarding the authorization process and supply information to providers, patients and third party payors.

2. Acts as a resource for insurance coverage, which may include obtaining authorizations and notifications throughout the patient’s treatment. Obtains all necessary signatures and documentation required by the patient’s insurance plan. Accurately and completely documents all information into the patient records system to ensure maximum reimbursement. Monitors and updates information regarding insurance data, authorizations, preferred providers and changes in patient’s treatment plan. Partners with the clinical care team and insurance provider to ensure continued coverage of patient’s care and maximum reimbursement and minimized financial impact to the patient.

3. Provides administrative support in maintaining materials such as documents, proposals, routine correspondence, spreadsheets, composing and preparing routine reports, and maintaining records in a variety of business software and database applications for electronic medical records, billing, data management.

4. Schedules physician appointments, tests, procedures and surgeries and may provide patient with necessary preparation instructions. Prepares, processes, and manages patient documentation to department database . Acts as a liaison between the patient, billing department, and payor to enhance account receivables, resolve outstanding issues and/or patient concerns.

5. Optimizes patient experience by using effective customer service. Communicates continually with patients, other departments, referral networks and providers to ensure appropriate plans and protocols are followed. Uses discretion and is attentive to issues of customer confidentiality. Demonstrates skills in pro-active resolution and attempts to resolve scheduling conflicts.

6. May manage the medical record for the assigned area, including coordination with hospitals, practice offices and other ancillary services to obtain needed records. Responds to patient referral requests for tests, procedures and specialty visits. Follows guidelines and may assist in developing procedures to ensure that medical records are in compliance with all state and federal laws. The Banner Baywood Neuro-Stroke PCU is nationally certified as a Primary Stroke Unit by the Joint Commission. It is a three-wing, 74-bed telemetry unit that provides acute care for all stroke and neuro patients as well as cardiac, medical, and post-surgical patients. While this is a challenging, high-acuity unit, the potential for learning and growth is unmatched. We offer support to help grow any of our PCA’s into the nursing pathway or other healthcare pathways that we can offer within Banner.

As a Banner Baywood Neuro PCU Certified Patient Care Assistant- PCA you are an integral part of our wonderful culture. You will have the opportunity to provide specialized care for adult patients who require continuous telemetry monitoring. Our diverse patient population includes patients with neurological disease processes, post-op craniotomies, and stroke patients. Generally, there is a 1/8-12 patient ratio. The Cardiovascular PCU is 24-bed Progressive Care Unit that provides care for an adult cardiovascular patient population. This Unit works with a multitude of services such as General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Electrophysiology Infectious Disease, Pulmonology, Vascular Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Hospitalists. Role: This position will be responsible for developing SQL queries for Power BI reporting as well as integrating other data warehouse information as needed by end users.  The individual will also learn to run decision support reports and develop reporting views for end users as needed.  Their SQL skills will also be used in auditing our interface data to sources within the EDW.  There will be a high level of technical skills as well as a reporting component from our proprietary software we use.  The analytical piece is important to ensure what we provide is accurate and audited . Someone with finance experience, ability to write SQL, Power BI development and analytical skills will be successful in this role . SQL, Excel, Power BI, standard Microsoft will be used in this position, experience is a MUST!

POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides decision support business intelligence that may include cost accounting, financial planning, and payroll and productivity within the Financial Planning and Analysis team. This position manages large datasets and databases to develop and maintain the decision support system. In addition, the role requires working with innovative analytical tools while applying advanced data mining knowledge, statistics, and healthcare billing expertise. The position is the subject matter expert on highly complex reports, data repositories and source system interfaces. Responsibilities also include developing enhanced methods of data analysis and presentation, facilitating both quality and efficiencies to support strategic planning, leadership, and decision-making activities.   

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Provide data warehouse management, business intelligence ideas, and maintenance of decision support software. Develop standards and operating procedures for technical processes. Normalize, validate, and ensure data integrity through comprehensive auditing and analysis.

2. Manages data accuracy through ongoing validation and comparison of data warehouse to operational activity. Aligns data communication with key stakeholders to ensure consistent data share and interpretation. Ensures precision in data compilation for informed operational decisions across Banner Health.

3. Work with multiple data sources and expected to troubleshoot data issues and other report/dashboard issues at a moderately complex level and appropriately escalate issues as needed.

4. Analyzes and reports on customer needs. Manages and supports the identification and research of new developments and uses of current systems and applications, as well as upgraded systems and applications such as Power BI, SQL, and Tableau.

5. Provides direction with technology partners to coordinate implementation and support for financial and clinical information systems to enhance current and future system functionality.

6. Responsible for Intermediate to Advanced level queries in Excel, Power BI, SQL (or similar language). Ability to work with advanced data visualizations for dashboard creation OR responsible for basic queries in SQL (or similar language) and proficient operational analysis.

7. This position works closely and directly with executive, senior and mid-level management at all levels of the organization to deliver BI solutions. Engages key stakeholders as internal customers through advanced professional level communication.  Compares decision support data to financial performance and provides insight into interdependency.

8. Develop curriculum and conduct end-user training sessions as needed on the various application modules of the business intelligence, data warehousing and analytics systems. 

9. Works on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Proven advanced analytical and modeling skills are necessary. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple projects that utilize sophisticated software programs. Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Position interacts with all levels of hospital and system leadership and staff, physicians, regulatory agencies, and vendors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess strong knowledge of business, finance, health management, statistics, and analytics as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree. 

Must also possess seven plus years of decision support experience in healthcare or an equivalent combination of relevant education, technical, business and related industry experience. Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with changing needs and deadlines. Requires excellent human relations skills and the ability to effectively interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.

Must be proficient in the use of sophisticated software programs, data interpretation and spreadsheet programs. Proven advanced analytical skills are necessary.
