About The Company:

Providing groundworks and civil engineering services for maintenance and new installations, the company work for private, commercial and public clients across Kent and the South East. They deliver projects large and small from public highways and housing developments to private residential builds and home improvement projects.

They are now looking to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

About The Role:

The Quantity Surveyor will work as part of the Commercial Management team to ensure the prompt financial completion of projects throughout schemes in the South East.

Duties:
• Providing commercial support for Groundworks and Civil Engineering projects
• Understand the contractual requirements of project documents including the roles and responsibilities of all involved
• Liaise with the client, client representatives and other 3rd parties on commercial issues
• Manage the client to receive information required, e.g. Payment Certificate, variation instructions, etc
• Cost management for project/section of works, identify and pricing variations
• Understand forecast cost to completion
• Preparation of interim valuations and final accounts
• Risk and opportunity management for project/section of works
• Management of known and newly identified risks and opportunities
• Identification and implementation of mitigation measures
• Ensure all involved in procurement for project understand allowances for items they are responsible for and the procedures to be followed
• Negotiate agreements including interim and final accounts
• Prepare monthly forecasts

Candidate Requirements:
• A qualified/experienced Senior QS with at least 5 years’ experience in the industry
• A qualified/experienced Intermediate level QS with at least 3-5 years of industry experience
• With an already confirmed order book ahead of us, progression would be on the horizon for the right candidate. Ideally, we are seeking someone with a Groundworks background
Skills & Attributes:

• HND in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent construction related subject
• Demonstrable commercial experience, preferably within Civil Engineering/Groundworks
• Good communication and negotiation skills

Your new role
The role encompasses a mixture of traditional building surveyor and project management across a variety of different sectors. As a building surveyor, you will be joining a vibrant team and have knowledge of Asbestos management duties, H&S legislation and CDM Regulations. This role requires experience in management of small to large sized projects, identifying building defects and preparing specifications. You will be working on current projects including fire cladding remediation, blue light refurbishments, extensions & refurbishment of schools, colleges, universities and other Public Sector Buildings.


What you'll need to succeed
Working knowledge of IT systems and software such as MS Project, Office, & AutoCAD.Work well within a team
Knowledge of the JCT forms of ContractBachelors or equivalent degree in Building Surveying and/or HNC/HND
Full Member of the RICS or actively seeking.You will also need a fully valid UK Driving Licence and be prepared to undertake DBS/Security clearance as a prerequisite.

Role Title: Empty Homes Assistant Surveyor
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Salary: £28,138-£35,172 per annum plus £2272 car allowance per annum (salary offered dependent on experience)

You’ll be assisting in the delivery of an effective surveying function across our property portfolio. This will predominantly relate to empty homes but may also include other aspects of property maintenance such as major works, responsive repairs, planned works, refurbishment, fire management, servicing, cyclical redecorations, estate improvements, environmental, energy, newbuild and regeneration.

Your key tasks will include:

• Assisting in the provision of technical support to Moat and its customers, conduct property surveys, diagnose defects.
• Helping design and specify works, obtain estimates, oversee delivery, monitor project expenditure and complete sign-off.
• Acting as contract administrator or other role as appropriate and use standard forms of contract to administer the works.
• Overseeing quality control and supervision for each contract, ensuring adequate provision is made on site for building legislation and health & safety requirements.

• Providing management reports and schedules of defects when necessary and certify rectification of snagging items.
• Investigating and resolving any CRM tasks, enquires or complaints raised by customers relating to projects or services provided by Moat.
• Providing out of hours cover on a rota basis, as required
• Keeping accurate records and manage all data in accordance with our Data Governance Framework, relevant legislation, and best practice. You must also understand and fulfil your responsibilities as set out in this framework.

You’ll have:

• Good standard of education.
• An awareness of legislation relating to health and safety, the housing health and the safety rating system (HHSRS), Regulatory Reform Order (RRO 2005), Planning, Building Control and housing repairs.
• Competent intermediate use of spread-sheets.
• An awareness of asset management data bases and their role.
