• To support the Project Manager and be responsible for the delivery of programmed maintenance projects to client's property assets and to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• To undertake comprehensive surveys of our assets to collect and record data related to the current condition and future replacement needs of the building elements.
• Experience of carrying out stock condition and validation surveys
• Knowledge of repairing responsibilities and relevant law regarding landlord and tenant
• Experience of diagnosing maintenance defects within housing stock including causes and treatment of damp and mould, with the ability to specify repairs for the same.

My client, an independent and chartered insurance brokerage based in Worcester have a rare opportunity to work closely with the Group Managing Director (GMD) in a key role within the business as Senior Account Handler.

Assisting on his personal account, you will assist the GMD with a small amount of his larger clients with premiums £50k - £500k. The majority of cases are in Property sector Managing Agent Portfolios, Property Owners, Property Developers and Construction.

This is a position where you will also be the lead on the brokers in house Property Binder, so there is an element of underwriting in volved via Delegated Authority.

The role will involve you playing a key part in client meetings, on occasions you will lead meetings and will be expected to develop your own relationships with these clients and handle their policies on a regular basis.

This is an office-based role however due to the close relationships you will develop with the clients in the GMD's book, it will involve an element of travelling with the GMD nationally, including visits to the Isle of Man.

You will have a strong commercial lines technical knowledge and will be able to advise clients with their risks, therefore good relationship building skills and a keen eye for detail are essential.

Salary is open dependant on experience.

About the role

The Building Surveyor will assist the Senior Building surveyors in the effective management and delivery of Building projects on Council managed properties including operation, non-operational buildings, investment land and buildings.

To assist with surveys and the production of reports for other services and departments and team records.

• To ensure efficiency, effectiveness and equality in service delivery.
• To exercise proper integrity and respect of confidential matters and personal information obtained during the execution of the duties of this post.
• To reflect the Council's core values and objectives in undertaking the duties of this post.
• To adopt high standard of personal and professional conduct in communication with the public, members and other officers.

• Significant experience within a property environment and working in a Building Surveyor environment

• Demonstrable knowledge of IT packages and web based applications.
• Awareness of Data Protection Act, confidentiality and Freedom of Information.
• Experience of using Computer aided Drawing packages , AutoCad, GIS
• Hold a current driving license.
• HND/ Degree in Building surveying plus minimum 2 years post qualification in a Building surveying Role

You will oversee payment applications, create appraisals, and prepare project reports while directly collaborating with the site teams and reporting to the operations director. In addition to this, you will prepare CVRs and final accounts while managing subcontractors on a large scale project.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed, you will have experience surveying within the civil engineering sector. Working in the highways or motorway sector is desired however not essential also you will have had worked on NEC (3 or 4) contracts on similar projects. Being degree qualified will be advantageous to your application, although this isn't vital.
