SURVEYOR (PAPUA NEW GUINEA)

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Surveyor to join our team in overseeing surveying activities for our palm oil estate and the associated roadworks for our oil palm company based overseas (Papua New Guinea). The ideal candidate will be responsible for measuring and mapping the land, conducting surveys for road access, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. This role requires a blend of technical skills, project management, and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• • Conduct land surveys for the palm oil estate, access roads and required infrastructures, using modern surveying equipment and software.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate survey documentation, including maps, reports, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Analyze survey data and provide insights on land use, property boundaries, and infrastructure development.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding land use and environmental impact.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of surveying and construction activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections as required.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of surveying technologies and best practices.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Surveyor, preferably in agricultural or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS) and equipment (e.g., total stations, GPS) will be an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of land surveying principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with palm oil estate management and road construction is a plus.
  • Overseas working experience and exposure to plantation industry are added advantages

ESTATE MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

• • Reporting to Senior Manager.
  • Responsible for overseeing all field operational activities for oil palm and fertigation related horticultural projects.
  • Additionally, you will collaborate with the appropriate supervisors and foremen to make sure that the estate operates as efficiently as possible from planting through harvesting.
  • To monitor day-to-day plantation operations and to identify problem areas and take corrective actions, ensuring operating expenses and profitability are maximized and annual target plantings/harvests are met.
  • To ensure appropriate monitoring systems are put in place for all plantation tending tasks, such as general tractor work, spraying, weeding, trimming, harvesting, and slashing, as well as protection against fire and disease.
  • To liaise with the plantation management team on management of fertigation scheduling and other irrigation duties, regular plantation pest and disease inspections, leaf and soil tests for plant nutrition and appropriate maintenance of plantation plant and equipment.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crisis and devise contingency plans.
  • To implement strategies, review and set triggers to ensure KPIs and objectives are met in respective divisions.
  • Build relationship with key stakeholders and also local government and community around the estate.
  • Inspecting the plantations and prepare submission written report after each visit detailing the state and conditions of all aspects of the estate together with necessary recommendation.
  • Plan, organize, implement and control all operations and activities within the Estate according to the practice and guidelines provided by the Company.
  • Provide effective leadership and motivation.
  • To prepare necessary daily/weekly/monthly reports for presentation to Senior Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

• • Candidates must possess a Diploma/Degree in Agriculture/Aquaculture/ Horticulture/ Plantations or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience in Management position in the Oil Palm Plantation / Cash Crop Industry and development on peat soil land.
  • Possess a high level of independence, integrity, self-motivation.    
  • Good command in English (Written and Spoken)
  • Good health condition. Must be able to work in remote areas.
  • Good sense of business acumen

• Review contractor proposals to insure completeness and appropriateness.
• Prepare technical analysis or Pre-negotiation Objectives as required based on cost analysis of contractor's proposal and Government estimate.
• Develop construction methods and quality control techniques for projects that involve specialized facilities with special purpose technical equipment installation and structural features.
• Monitor progress on contract as represented by contractor prepared progress charts and network analysis systems.
• Conduct negotiations with contractor personnel on modifications and negotiated contracts.
• Review plans and specifications prior to contract advertisement to determine such things as practicability from a construction standpoint.

• Attend to sales enquiries and prepare quotations.

Requirement:
