We are seeking a talented disrepair surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in inspecting property conditions, providing a schedule of work to enable timely repairs, and offering expert guidance to our customers and stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive property inspections to identify issues such as, but not limited to; structural defects, dampness, mold, infestations, and disrepair due to negligence or lack of maintenance. You will assess the severity of each case, providing detailed reports with recommended repair actions and cost estimates.
You’ll also coordinate with contractors to ensure repairs are completed to a high standard, obtain sign-off, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with legal teams, attend court hearings when necessary, and provide expert testimony in disrepair cases.
A professional approach is essential, as you will offer advice on preventative measures and long-term maintenance strategies to reduce future disrepair issues.
This role is permanent and full time. You’ll work 40 hours per week covering the West Midlands and Staffordshire. A Full UK driving licence and an enhanced DBS check are required.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Proven experience as a disrepair or building surveyor, or a similar role, preferably in the housing association, property management or building surveyor sectors.
- Strong knowledge of property maintenance, construction, and repair methodologies
- Excellent understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice related to property disrepair
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills to accurately identify, assess, and report on building damages.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities to effectively interact with customers, contractors, and legal teams
- An ability to work independently, manage own workload, and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
- Professional qualifications in building surveyor, construction, or a related field are highly desirable
- Able to communicate using technology and systems
