Qantas Group Property manage a portfolio of over 2 million SQM across approximately 100 locations. The Property Development team plays a key role by providing comprehensive property project management services within the Qantas Group. The team works closely with a broad range of stakeholders and end users to deliver property solutions supporting all facets of the business to meet constantly evolving operational requirements and to assist the organisation in providing a premium Customer experience.
The Property Development Contracts Manager will manage capital works contracts to ensure Qantas' contractual and compliance risks are mitigated and commercial position is optimised. You will provide contract management/administration of suppliers’ performance, contractual and HSE compliance and compile periodical performance reports. You will manage the commercial relationships between Property Development Managers and suppliers, including the relationship with Qantas’ Central Procurement team.
This role will provide assistance to expedite procurement of minor capital works goods & services, to develop a workplace culture of continuous improvement in the areas of contract management and sourcing of goods and services in this field. You will also provide property advice in the interpretation of contract terms and the enforcement of the terms of the contract and issuing notices of direction and support Qantas procurement and Legal processes and procedures throughout the life cycle of the project.
You’ll have –
- 5+ years experience of buildings and infrastructure construction contracting and procurement experience, preferably in the aviation and/or industrial sectors
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Management and/or a property-related field together with experience in the application of Construction Contract Law and construction-related experience is ideal
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as established influencing and business partnering skills
- Strong relationship skills are necessary to build confidence with Property Development, Regional Property and Compliance Managers in order to understand their needs and gain support for value-added commercial propositions
- The ability to make critical decisions and influence cross functional teams is imperative, so too is the ability to deal with ambiguity and have the initiative to provide strong value proposition
- Challenge existing thinking and maintain stakeholder relationships
- Ability to acquire and use business process knowledge
- High Level (executive) relationship management
- Initiative and ability to work independently
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and Influencing skills
- Leading and running commercial negotiations
- Property industry knowledge
- Define and implement ideal commercial strategy and the ability to acquire and use market knowledge
- Detailed knowledge of standard form construction and maintenance contracts
- The ability to understand the key drivers affecting Qantas and create business value through services and leveraging experienced knowledge, leading practices and professional service
- Commercial risk identification and assessments
- Administer contract commercial terms for Group Procurement and Legal business units in relation to construction contracts
- Dispute resolution and enforcement of commercial contract terms
