Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is also open to taking on Estimating responsibilities. You will work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Buyer, gaining hands-on experience and growing your skills. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in projects from pricing to completion, with the potential to eventually run your own projects. This role also offers the opportunity to explore other middle management positions if desired. This is the perfect position for recent graduates or assistants.
Key Responsibilities:
Quantity Surveying: Assist in managing all financial aspects of projects, including cost control, valuations, and final accounts.
Estimating: Prepare cost estimates for projects ranging from £100k to £2 million, using agreed rates or competitive tenders.
Project Involvement: Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in running the jobs that have been won, with the goal of independently managing projects over time.
Collaboration: Work alongside the Buyer and Senior Quantity Surveyor to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standard.
Site Visits: Spend one day a week on-site to monitor progress, understand project dynamics, and liaise with site teams.
Requirements:
Experience: Some experience in Quantity Surveying or Estimating within the construction industry is preferred, but we are open to candidates with different backgrounds who have a willingness to learn.
Education: Open to candidates on university day release programs, providing a balance between work experience and academic study.
Skills: Strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Benefits:
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000, depending on experience.
