This role:

The successful candidate can be located in Farringdon, London or Beeston, Nottinghamshire.

• Working directly for the Head and Safety Manager, you will support and drive health and safety management arrangements and requirements within the Property Services Directorate of the business.
• This will involve ensuring that all elements of the directorate health and safety plan are supported including advising on CDM projects, planned and cyclical works and monitoring all aspects of health and safety performance associated with property maintenance works which is predominantly carried out by contract partners.

What you'll need to succeed:

• Appropriate health and safety qualification with a minimum equivalent of a NEBOSH Construction Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
• Extremely good level of knowledge and practical experience of working on live construction sites/property repairs/maintenance (as per CDM definition)
• Excellent knowledge and practical application of the CDM Regulations 2015 especially the clients’ duties
• Experience of conducting inspections and audits (construction operations) and preparing reports for senior management to promote continuous improvements
• Ability to manage own work prioritise and work well as part of a team

An outline of your responsibilities – Commercial Administrator ​

Administration support in the preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids and tenders
Support the Commercial team in all contract administration; this will involve processing subcontractor applications/payments and raising sales invoices to meet deadlines
Assist Quantity Surveyor by updating all relevant Cost Value Reconciliation reports and data sheets
Sub Contractor Invoices and Variations and processing payments using Coins
Ordering of materials in a timely manner
Update Clients Information systems with any necessary data to fulfil contract needs which is provided by the Novus operations team
Deal with external and internal communications and record and or report information
Ensure all necessary contract data is input correctly and that documentation and reports are accurate and produced on time including client applications and external valuations
Deal with Subcontractors/Clients/Customer queries and or communications professionally and efficiently
Attend meetings with internal stakeholders
Familiarity with cost systems would be beneficial
About you

As a Commercial Administrator you will need to be highly organised, methodical and have confidence to communicate both verbally and in writing. A good level of computer skills is key, (especially MS Excel to formulae level), a lot of what you will be doing is centred around our inhouse computer systems, of course we will provide the training on our system, as part of your initial onboarding experience. Speaking of which we will dedicate the time throughout your first week with a great induction and onboarding plan to upskill you on our processes and procedures however, we are always open to new ideas and efficiencies so welcome your input as your make this role your own. This role could be a great opportunity for someone looking to get on the Quantity Surveying ladder.

Quantity Surveying/Contruction Management at Babcock:

• Delivering projects of the scale we work on, against strict requirements, is an exact science. You'll experience this first-hand.

At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Mechanical and Electrical Surveyor at our Devonport site.

The Built Environment Surveying Team primarily undertake the mechanical and electrical elements of building surveys. The team are responsible for assessing the condition and statutory compliance of the building services in Devonport Dockyard.

The role
As a Mechanical and Electrical Surveyor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will ensure building services operate efficiently and comply with regulations which is crucial for infrastructure longevity at the Royal Navy's operational base.

Day to day, you'll asses the condition and compliance of building services, maintain asset databases, and scope any necessary remedial works. You will also:

• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to survey and report on planned maintenance, responsive repairs, and infrastructure assets.
• You will collaborate with other teams to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the dockyard's facilities.

This role is 35 hours per week, offering a flexible hybrid working pattern and will be based at Devonport Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Mechanical and Electrical Surveyor

• Experienced surveyor with knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems (E.g. HVAC, lighting, fire alarms etc…)
• Proficient in preparing surveyor reports and condition assessments.

Qualifications for the Mechanical and Electrical Surveyor

• It is desirable, but not essential to have a degree or HND level in building services or similar.
• The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
