Due to the continued success of our hardworking colleagues in the Southeast and our excellent client relationships, we seek to welcome an established Quantity Surveyor to join our small commercial team.
Within our cyclical contracts (Painting & Decorating) division of the business, our East Peckham team (who cover southeast London & Kent) offer a full 360 Quantity Surveying experience enabling you full ownership over tendering, estimating, measuring, cost management and client relationships from start to finish. They deliver internal, external, and cyclical painting and associated repairs/refurbishment works to clients’ buildings across the housing, education, commercial and retirement living markets.
Within this cyclical division of our national contracting Business our Quantity Surveyors have real opportunity to directly impact our commercial success at the grass roots. The Quantity Surveyor role:
As a Quantity Surveyor in East Peckham (Maidstone) you will be pivotal to the commercial success of your contracts, taking ownership and accountability over the financial, cost control, technical and relationship aspects to actively ensure profitability is met. You will actively tender (for works), estimate and measure onsite, as well as:
Manage risks– highlight and mitigate commercial risks at every stage of a project.
Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning.
Working closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives. Ian Williams is committed to direct delivery wherever possible.
Building strong client and supplier relations, to ensure any variations and progress of contracts are discussed and communicated flows.
Taking full purchase, credit and debtor responsibility using COINS to achieve expected cash flow.
Complete and analyse weekly reporting from site has adequate cost information (including labour rates and performance exceptional to budget, value, progress, quality, and safety)
What will you bring as Quantity Surveyor?
You will be commercially savvy, highly numerate, analytical, and accurate as well as being a genuine ‘people person’ who thrives when collaborating with clients, trade teams and immediate colleagues, fostering a genuine ‘working together’ environment.
Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role
Experience of successfully managing projects simultaneously with a value of works ranging from £10,000 to £2,000,000.
Enterprising spirit, with a key eye for identifying business opportunities, areas for cost savings and unique ways to maximise on returns. And just as importantly, you will value developing key existing and valued relationships for future investment.
