JOB DESCRIPTION
Briggs & Stone was incorporated in April 2018. We work with our industry partners to offer bespoke
professional advice primarily in the Home Counties, Central and Southern England for rural estates, land &
property owners, farmers and developers. Our wealth of experience, knowledge of the area and strong
relationships provide diverse and optimum rural asset management solutions for progressive rural
businesses.
Job Purpose
The Graduate Surveyor is a person of unquestionable integrity and professionalism, combined with high
levels of emotional intelligence and discretion.
Graduates will be given support and training in developing their essential business, sales and personal skills
to successfully operate as a Rural Surveyor. Graduates will complete a training programme and gain
practical experience with the Firm’s specialist surveyors.
With study leave and regular reviews, the aim is to progress towards Assessment of Professional
Competence to become MRICS qualified - bringing the chance of career progression towards senior
management and partnership.
Working as part of the team, taking on a workload of existing clients (initially under supervision) and
undertaking business generation activities are key areas of responsibility for graduate trainees.
Particulars of Work
Hours of work will be 09.00 to 17.30 Monday to Friday, with one hour for lunch; a total of 37.5 hours
per week.
Holiday entitlement includes 28 days per calendar year which excludes bank holidays and public
holidays.
The primary place of work will be Prestwood, Great Missenden with occasional working elsewhere
however Briggs and Stone reserve the right to alter and add locations as appropriate
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Professional Work
Obtaining professional experience and assisting with specific jobs such as: valuations, diversification
projects, business plans, compulsory purchase & utility schemes, landlord and tenant matters,
farmland investment and development schemes.
Assist in general Estate and farm management e.g. preparation of tenancy agreements, day to day
estate matters or problems, inspections, analysing and processing data.
Property management and maintenance: finding and supervising tenants, putting tenancy
agreements in place, undertaking rent reviews, preparation of schedules of condition, seeking
quotations for work and monitoring

Preparation of maps, drawings and charts, as required
Providing support and assistance to senior surveyors throughout their duties. Paying close attention
to instructions and maintaining accurate records.
Creating and updating reports, inputting agreements, carrying out rent reviews, managing tenants'
rents, dealing with arrears in a timely manner.
Claims Management
Preparing and submitting claim, grant, subsidy forms
Business Generation
Support existing clients and help develop business generation skills to support business generation
activities and initiatives.
Gain a good general understanding of all services offered
Assessment of Professional Competence
Report regularly to your APC Counsellor and draw attention to any shortfalls in skills, development or
time allocated to particular work
Maintain the APC diary and undertake all necessary work in connection with the APC timetable and
requirements.
Develop technical and professional skills towards and beyond APC success.
File Management
Setting up new files and retrieving back files from archive
Ensuring that all new matters have signed Terms of Engagement on file
Filing paper and electronically on all project matters
Ensuring accurate filing systems and clean CRM system is maintained for all clients and matters
Recording chargeable and non-chargeable time regularly and in a timely fashion
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Excellent organisational skills
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
Good IT skills to apply to other packages other than
those above
Excellent attention to detail and telephone manner
Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a

Cognate degree
Experience of a professional Service Firm
