As Marine Warranty Surveyor (Singapore), you will assist with providing marine warranty services to our clients in relation to a wide range of shipping and offshore operations and assist with mitigating the associated risks for their insurers.
Primarily based in Singapore, you will be an integral part of the Solis Marine team in Singapore, reporting directly to the Head of Marine Warranty Services. You will also be a member of the global Solis Marine team, providing support to colleagues in other geographical regions.
Duties and Responsibilities
The role is wide-ranging and leans on your expertise and experience in the field of marine warranty, including:
- Review of transportation documentation and procedures for a wide range of shipping and offshore operations including loading and sea fastening of project cargo, towage, transportation, offshore operations and installation of offshore structures.
- Attendance on site as marine warranty surveyor to verify compliance with approved plans and procedures, which will require both regional and international travel.
- Assisting the wider Solis Marine team with incident investigation, damage surveys and related services.
- Being proactive in marketing, developing the business and nurturing and maintaining client relationships.
- Willingness to work flexible hours during attendance on site to meet clients’ operational requirements.
Qualifications
- A higher diploma or degree in maritime studies or nautical sciences.
- STCW AII/2 certificate of competency (chief officer or master)
- Alternatively, a Bachelors or master’s degree in Naval Architecture, or,
- Other related qualification or similar practical work experience.
- Hold a valid medical certificate or seafarers medical (UK equivalent).
- You must have the physical ability and fitness levels to safely carry out the required surveys onboard vessels either at anchor or alongside in port facilities or offshore facilities and shipyards.
Experience
- Seagoing experience with a sound knowledge of shipboard operations and in particular a good understanding of cargo stowage and securing arrangements. Other similar experience working in port or terminal may also be considered.
- Preferably a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience working as a marine warranty surveyor or naval architect involved with marine transportation solutions or similar project management role.
