Our client, a collaborative and nurturing international firm, is looking for a Property & Casualty Claims Handler to join their vibrant and growing Insurance Group in Bristol. The firm has a well-established client base, acting for the vast majority of household and commercial property Insurers in the market, as well as some large insureds and cover holders. The team handles a wide variety of claims arising out of property damage, including (amongst other things) fire, water, subsidence, construction and impact damage.

This role is based in our client's Bristol office, however you will be able to work remotely from home for part of the week if desired, as the firm operates a hybrid working policy.

Your new role
The role largely involves running a case load of subrogated recovery matters on behalf of a range of insurers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to run a property recovery claim from first instruction, through the pre-action stage and into proceedings when necessary. A familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules is therefore necessary.

The work will be varied, interesting and challenging and where you show you can run the cases successfully, you will be given autonomy to stamp your own mark on the files; there will be the opportunity to work on matters varying in value from £10,000 all the way up to millions of pounds. You will also get involved with business development and client initiatives, where appropriate.

In addition, you can expect to:

Manage a large caseload of Property Insurance claims.
Deliver a high quality and timely output to clients, ensuring high levels of client service and alignment with agreed working practices and client service level agreements.
Capture and collate required Management Information in accordance with agreed practice for clients.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have prior Claims Handling and/or litigation experience, including running a case load. Experience of Insurance is preferable but not essential. Our client is happy to consider candidates either with a Law degree, those working towards ACII, CILEx or equivalent legal qualification, or alternatively you might have significant experience in claims, with technical knowledge and experience. Candidates should have litigation experience and a familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules.

An understanding of how to provide excellent customer service is essential, and you will be hardworking, enthusiastic and motivated, with competent skills in Microsoft Office. Previous experience of using a case management system is desirable.

• A HNC or higher qualification in Building, Surveying damp remedial works or similar technical field. Or the candidate will be able to demonstrate that you have 6 plus years of experience within the sector.
• Candidates will require a strong knowledge of Disrepair legislation, the Landlord Tennancy Act 1985, as well as HHSRS assessments.
• Candidates will be required to have confidence using IT, especially the MS Word, and be comfortable producing written reports.

This role facilitatesthe delivery of the Disposal Strategy through reactive and proactive OptionAppraisals to ensure our homes prioritise the health and wellbeing of ourresidents. The role will lead the Option Appraisal Panel and present thefindings and outcome of the option appraisals carried out on those homesbrought forward for consideration, completing the scoring matrix on behalf ofthe panel and make the final recommendation to the Executive.

What you'll need tosucceed

To succeed in thisposition you will require the following:

Degree, HNC, HND, BTECHND, in a building discipline or relevant experience and training.
Experience working asa social housing or residential property surveyor
Excellent knowledgeand understanding of:
Building and housingregulations and legislation.
Landlords' statutoryrepair, maintenance and health and safety responsibilities, including fire risk.
Asset ownershipincluding freehold, leasehold, S106 restrictions or other restrictingcovenants.
Ability to write highquality documentation and reports.
Track record ofdelivering excellent customer service, even whilst working under pressure.
Ability to communicateclearly and accurately with a wide range of internal and external customers.


While additional keyresponsibilities for the role are as follows,

Facilitate delivery ofthe Disposal Strategy through reactive option appraisals of void homes that nolonger make a positive contribution to the organisation and are not of aquality we want for our residents.
Leading the OptionAppraisal Panel and present the findings and outcome of the option appraisals.
Provide accurateanalysis and specification of works and costs to provide detailed evidence forthe Option Appraisal report.
Be able to interrogatesystems data to provide historical repairs information for the Option AppraisalReport and use building pathology to interpret future investment requirementsincluding zero carbon investment needs.
Work closely withteams in the Homes Directorate to understand challenging archetypes and whereappropriate, seek solutions to overcome these with investment colleagues orbring them forward for option appraisal consideration.
Lead on complex worksfor the directorate including but not limited to remodelling works, structuralworks, insurance works,
