Role: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Derby - East Midlands based projects

Salary: £40,000- £50,000 DOE

The successful Quantity Surveyor will be joining to work on projects across the East Midlands with projects coming up in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester. My clie nt works across a diverse project portfolio, including, education, healthcare, commercial and leisure with projects ranging from £1m - £30m in value.

This is an exciting time with a number of secured projects there will be opportunities for progression that would be otherwise unachievable in this current market.

About the Quantity Surveyor role

As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you will play an integral role in the management, direction, and successful completion of projects. Working closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor to develop, learn and grow. Your focus is to manage build cost and maximise margin whilst achieving the required standards and quality.

This role would suit an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for that next step, or a Project Quantity Surveyor looking for a new challenge. You will gain exposure to a number of exciting projects across a variety of sectors.

Requirements for Quantity Surveyor role

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor
• Education, Healthcare or Commercial experience ideal but not essential
• Experience of working within the Construction industry for a main contractor.
• UK Driving License

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Fawkes and Reece are currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our clients team based in Derby to work on a flagship project worth circa £60m in value. They are a Leading Tier 1 Contractor who work on projects for both public and private sector clients on schemes up to £200m in value across a variety of sectors including but not limited to, commercial, mixed-use, education, healthcare, leisure, industrial and student accommodation.

About the Senior Quantity Surveyor role

Due to securing an exciting pipeline of projects our client is now looking to expand their team with the addition of a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work within their major projects division.

This role would suit a Senior Quantity Surveyor who has experience leading high value schemes in excess of £30m and will have ideally worked on High -Rise / Luxury Residential schemes.

Responsibilities for Senior Quantity Surveyor role

• Commercial management of a projects in excess of £20m in value.
• Cost reporting
• Procurement of sub contract packages
• Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedure.
• Preparing plans, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation

Requirements for Senior Quantity Surveyor role

• Experience working for a Tier 1 or leading main contractor
• Minimum 10 years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role
• Experience with NEC and JCT projects
• Degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred but not essential
• UK Driving License.

What we offer for the Senior Quantity Surveyor role

Salary: £75,000 - £90,000 DOE - will pay more for exceptional candidates

What will I be doing?

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be working on large Education, Commercial, and industrial projects valued between £10m and £100m based in the Midlands & Lower Yorkshire.

Senior Quantity Surveyor responsibilities:

• Preparation of bills and/or schedules for quantities of materials, labour and services required
• Cost reporting.
• Preparation and valuation of progress and submission to client.
• Sub-contract procurement including sending out enquiries, collating prices, negotiation, order placement.
• Sub-contract valuations and payments in connection with any contract.
