This well established Fit out and refurbishment contractor are looking for a freelance QS to work on a variety of projects including offices, education establishments and leisure buildings. Due to an increase in work both now and in the pipeline they are looking for someone to join the team on a freelance basis, although there may be the opportunity for the role to turn permanent for the right person. The role will be office based with visits to site, and can be based in either Birmingham or Milton Keynes.

You must have significant experience in working on fit out or refurbishment projects and live within travelling distance of Birmingham or Milton Keynes.

The job responsibilities include:

• Reviewing programme of works.
• Sending out tender documentation to subcontractors.
• Analysis of subcontractor tender packages.
• Subcontractor awards
• Package management
• Ongoing final accounting
• Preparation of cash flow forecasts

Quantity Surveyor/ Commercial Manager who has experience in the construction industry with previous preconstruction & estimating experience.

• Salary £65,000 - £70,000 (Dependant on experience)

Position Requirements

• MRICS qualified
• Over 5 years' working as a QS within the construction industry (UK)
• Proven experience of delivering projects and at tender stage
• Proven experience working with all types of JCT contracts
• A-Level, HND, NVQ or Degree level qualified
• Excellent mathematical skills
• Good organisational and administrative skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook
• Self-motivated personality.
• Attention to detail with a right first-time attitude.
• Organisation and time management skills.

POSITION TITLE: Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager

Reports to the Senior Commercial Manager

RESULT STATEMENT: To manage and control the commercial and contractual matters of fit out and refurbishment projects. To ensure that all standards and the required level of profitability are achieved, and risk is mitigated.

To work alongside the respective Project Manager to ensure a profitable and successful project and have the overall responsibility of delivering successful projects commercially.

To develop positive relationships to enhance Inside's reputation.

WORK LISTING:

Strategic Work: 1. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, supply chain and the Inside team.

2. Manage the prompt costing of change, secure instructions and maximise commercial opportunities.
3. Actively participate in design cost control and value engineering solutions.
4. Recommend and develop improved systems, policies and procedures for the business.

Tactical Work: 1. Participate in tender submissions and ensure tender returns are compliant and numbers are agreed for tender finalisation.

2. Ensure retention is collected on time and rectify debtors' issues.
3. Generate and maintain relevant records, accurate filing and support for all commercial functions and ensure the Inside Team works together to keep accurate records.
4. Prepare, negotiate, manage and agree cost plans, valuation dates, cashflows and forecast final accounts.
5. Ensure cost control within projects including preliminary expenditure.
6. Ensure robust subcontractor orders are awarded to the supply chain.

7. Ensure fortnightly cashflows are submitted for each project and that the information contained within the cashflow is achieved.
8. Prepare and submit monthly cost value reconciliations to reflect current and forecast turnover and profit.

A new Building Surveyor opportunity with one of the most well established private practices in Birmingham. This is a privately owned, owner managed Construction Consultancy that can boast several decades of experience in professional practice. Over this time they have evolved into a highly dynamic multi-disciplinary construction consultancy offering both Building Consultancy as well as Project Management and Quantity Surveying services and maintained an excellent client base with repeat business still a high factor in their workload.

As this has recently grown they are now looking for a Building Surveyor to join their Birmingham office. They have a broad range of work in areas such as dilapidations, party wall and defect analysis, for example, as well as project management, contract admin, writing specifications and schedules of work. We would anticipate the successful candidate to hold a good, recent degree in Building Surveying with at least 3-4 year's experience in Building Surveying working ideally within consultancy / private practice or client side.
