About the roleAre you working or teaching in the field of engineering, design and/or manufacturing?! Would you be interested in a rewarding role which supports the development of future engineering workforce. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who would relish the opportunity to share their knowledge, skills and industry experience to teach, support and develop our next generation of engineers.
This is a great opportunity to inspire our future engineers, teaching across a range of vocational engineering & manufacturing programmes and Apprenticeship Standards. Predominantly our Level 3 programmes such as our BTEC Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and our T Level Engineering Manufacturing Design and Development. The successful candidate would need engineering & manufacturing/design technology experience to deliver a range of topics from engineering materials and processes to engineering design, as well as project based teaching, supporting students to develop skills to create successful protypes and solutions. General workshop skills are an advantage, any experience with Computer Numerical Control & Manufacture (Lathe & Mill), 2D / 3D CAD (e.g. AutoCAD, Solidworks), 3D printing/additive manufacture would be of benefit, but not essential.
About the personYou may be an experienced FE trainer/tutor, or a newly qualified tutor/teacher, however we would encourage applications from those working in design, manufacturing and/or engineering industry. Experience of leading projects/programmes would also be of benefit.
You should have a minimum of HND in a relevant Engineering discipline, or/and relevant industry standard qualifications and experience. You will ideally possess a recognised teaching qualification and assessor/IQA awards, or be willing to work towards these with funding support from the College. Recent experience within a manufacturing / engineering industry would be a significant advantage.
Candidates may offer skills and experiences suitable for a proportion of role or the total 37 hours per week.

Main Responsibilities

• Carry out examinations of trains for interior defects including toilet defects.
• Carry out repair work, routine maintenance and supplementary overnight exams on train toilets to specification as required.
• Carry out defect rectification, component changes / heavy lift as required.
• Complete any documentation required.
• Work as directed by the MIST production delivery engineer or on duty shift production delivery engineer

The Ideal Candidate

• To be considered for the role we recommend that you demonstrate the below in your application:
• Experience skilled mechanical / electrical work.
• Practical Aptitude.
• Ability to pass Personal Track Safety course or Depot Track Safety course.
• Physically fit and able to pass a medical to engineering standard.
• Ability to follow schematics and diagrams.
• Full UK driving licence and complies with company vehicle policy.
• Ability to pass core mechanical and core electrical skills competency assessments.
