Full Time, Permanent
January 2025 start date
Join us on a journey of transformation.
At Broadlands Academy, we are looking for an Associate Assistant Principal - Creative - who has an appetite and passion for improvement. This is an ideal post for a current Head of department or Second in Charge who is looking to become an integral and valued member of our senior leadership team. Within this role, you will be overseeing the Creative subjects which include Music, Resistant Materials, PE, Drama and Business Studies. We would warmly welcome applications from a subject specialist in Music, Resistant Materials, or a boys PE teacher.
The context:
Broadlands Academy in Keynsham is a small secondary school (452 students) that is embarking on a period of lasting transformation. Within a smaller school, your presence and skills have a huge impact upon your colleagues and students. You will be moving into a position where your voice truly matters and your opinions hold weight. In addition, you will be able to enjoy strong relationships with students and colleagues alike. There is a lot of work ahead to overcome the challenges that the school faces but we can offer you children who are a pleasure to teach, a fantastic SLT team and a staff body who are driven, welcoming and committed to delivering an excellent education.
The challenge:
This is a school in a deprived area with higher than average numbers of pupil premium and SEND students. The site and facilities are undergoing improvement work and we are working hard to raise the number of pupils on roll. Despite these hurdles, over the coming months, the school will undergo a journey of huge transformation. The excitement and desire for change is already palpable within the school.
The road ahead and the reward:
This is a challenge that is ripe for someone who is eager to demonstrate their ability to get stuck in and influence change at all levels (behaviour, attendance, teaching and learning) to turn a school around. The new Executive Principal, Richard Brand, and Principal, Laura Stone, have significant experience of whole school improvement so you will have a wealth of knowledge to draw from. Together with the rest of the leadership team, they have set the wheels in motion since their start in September, but they need to have a sharp, creative, enthusiastic Associate Assistant Principal join them as they drive improvement. This will be a richly rewarding, career-defining choice for the successful candidate.

- Our partnership with One World powers our innovative Instructional Excellence Program. We also offer a comprehensive range of CPD programs, including Ambition Institute's Early Career and NPQ offerings, tailored to both individual and network needs.

The role is due to commence in January 2025. This is a full time, permanent position. Early applications are encouraged as we will be reviewing and interviewing throughout the campaign.
Closing date: 7 November 2024
