Job Summary:
Teledyne FLIR is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work in the Surveillance Systems Division. This position will work with a diversified team across multiple locations on high performance airborne gimballed systems. The position will require technical leadership from conceptual design to testing and production implementation.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for taking product designs from concept through prototyping into final production.
Support product testing in the laboratory and on company owned airborne platforms for flight testing.
Design electro-mechanical parts and assemblies with SolidWorks, including gyro stabilized gimballed sensors.
Responsible for the mechanical specifications and planning related to electro-mechanical system design.
Effectively communicate among cross discipline teams located in multiple sites.
Job Qualifications:
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred, with 5+ years of experience with the design of airborne gimballed systems.
Familiarity with duplex bearings, dynamic seals and lightweight, stiffness-driven structural design required.
Experience designing with a solid modeling CAD program (SolidWorks a plus).
Understanding of drafting standards including geo-tolerancing.
Knowledge of stress and thermal analysis desired.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills a must.
Demonstrated experience working within a multi-disciplinary team in a fast paced, technically challenging environment.
