The redevelopment of Whipps Cross Hospital provides an opportunity to establish an integrated health, social care and health and wellbeing campus with the acute hospital at its heart. It will bring together a collection of connected services, teams and supporting infrastructure to provide holistic care and wellbeing to the local population designed around their needs. A true asset at the heart of the local community and a multi-provider facility, the redeveloped site will enable us to deploy new clinical pathways, a diverse range of support for patients, carers and families and innovative workforce models that draw on the strengths of the organisations within our system and the economic growth potential of the area to realise operational and economic efficiencies – the core of an integrated care system.
The Hospital Design & Development Workstream will be responsible for operational aspects of the Programme, including design development and estate and infrastructure for the hospital site. This will include finding solutions for services moving off-site, developing the hospital design brief, procuring a design team and overseeing work to develop the hospital design including working with clinical and non-clinical staff, external advisors and partners to determine the preferred design and location of the future hospital on site. A key deliverable over the next 12 month period for the programme is delivering enabling works phase 2, a new multi deck car park on the new hospital site; with the project manager role a pivotal role in its delivery.
