Overview

I am a 27-year-old man who lives with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a progressive neuromuscular condition. I have been using a powered wheelchair since 2015. I am a determined and stubborn individual (in a good way!) who tries to make the most of life.I studied Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham between 2015-2018 and MSc Science Communication at the University of Sheffield between 2018-2019. I worked in healthcare communications for 18 months, and I’m now doing a part-time 2-year distance learning MSc course in Sustainable Development at SOAS. I have also done work with different charities supporting people with DMD including the Pathfinders Neuromuscular Alliance. I currently live at home.I have a keen interest in healthcare, science and being outdoors. Music is one of my passions, and at one point, I wanted to be a sound engineer/producer. I have a varied taste in music, DJing and making music when I have time! I am interested in watching sports, the outdoors/walking, nature, gardening, design, reading and sailing. It would be great to have a PA who shares these interests.I am a sociable person who enjoys going out, but I do enjoy my own space and quiet.I am looking for 2x PA's to cover 50 hours a week with flexibility. I need someone who can support me to live an independent life whilst living at home. I need help with daily tasks, personal care (hoisting, toileting, showering/washing, dressing, daily stretching, weekly swimming/hydrotherapy etc.), domestic tasks (meal + drink prep, maintaining a clean and tidy environment, cleaning ventilator, hoovering, ironing, making bed, cleaning room, wheelchair, shower seat etc.) socialising/going out (attending events, packing bag etc.), working from home and general support. Being able to drive a Motability vehicle (automatic) is essential for this role.
I am looking for someone who can work 50hours a week and is flexible in the evenings and weekends. The rate of pay is £13.15 per hour.
Working between 4 – 12 hours shifts:

• Availability between 7:00 am – 20:00 pm
• Availability\flexibility to work some evenings (Wed 18:30 – 11:30) and weekends (Sundays 17:00 – 21:00)
• Working patterns and start times can be flexible and agreed upon after discussion.

Job description

I need help with personal care, including showering/washing, dressing, toileting, hoist transfers, and overnight ventilation (including daily cleaning of the ventilator, putting the ventilator mask on and turning the machine on/off).I require support with domestic/cleaning tasks (I like to be clean and tidy!), cleaning my chair, shopping and tasks involved in independently maintaining a household. I require a PA who can support me with cooking and food preparation (although I know how to cook myself and can provide instructions). Having a PA who has cooking skills and enjoys cooking healthy food is essential. I like my food!I need help picking up and moving heavy objects/items as required and when going out, packing and unpacking my bag.I need help with a daily stretching regime, standing wheelchair, and weekly swimming. I need somebody who enjoys exercise and sports and who is happy to support me with stretching. I also require support when I go sailing (you don’t have to get in the boat! - The season for this is between April and September/October).Driving (automatic) is essential for this role. I have a Motability vehicle that you may be able to drive for trips/activities on occasion. However, I can drive from my powered wheelchair for some journeys (I can drive for short journeys - up to one hour).Previous experience in manual handling is necessary. Your new role
This is an excellent opportunity to work with the SLT with varied duties. Your main responsibility will be co-ordinating 'office management' activities across the Centre of Excellence (COE), supporting projects, managing company information on various portals used for bidding activities, managing content on the company intranet for COE / Finance related policies and procedures. Key duties are:

• Support to the COE Director, liaising and co-ordinating various activities.
• Be responsible for production and distribution of various reports.
• Assist the Business Finance Director responsible with the organisation & preparation for the Finance Training Day
• Management of various pre-qualification portals, including Achilles and Construction Line and all business opportunities relating to them.
• Cash allocation activities including credit card payments.
• Design, develop and maintain several Sharepoint sites to a high standard.
• Manage all administration for Finance students undertaking CIMA, ACCA & AAT. This will include training agreements, booking forms and student tracking information.
• Manage all invoice coding and checking relating to Finance training.
• Ad hoc communications (internal and external).
• Management of various functional mailboxes.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need to be highly organised, efficient, influential and confident to handle a variety of tasks whilst working without line management supervision. This role will suit someone with experience as a PA/EA/Office Manager/Senior Administrator with strong experience and the gravitas to manage a busy, complex and challenging role. As the role is remote working, with travel to Worcester once a month, you will need to be confident working from home and able to manage your time well.
Essential criteria for this role:

• Microsoft Excel - advanced level, in order to manipulate data for reporting purposes.
• Microsoft Outlook - intermediate level to organise, respond to and archive incoming and outgoing messages.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word in order to produce reports.

Additionally, you will need:

• Able to work effectively without line manager supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate with all levels of management.
