About Me, personal Statement
I am in my fifties, and a married mother. I have one of the severest forms of Cerebral palsy, which affects the physical side of my brain not the mental part. I also have hearing as sharp as a knife.
While you are making your mind up whether this job is for you or not. I would be really grateful if you read through this job description thoroughly.
I am a fun, loving, sensitive person. I have got a great sense of humour. I like to be treated with respect in my own home.
I am a powered wheelchair user with a head control to drive the chair.
I use a computer/communication aid called an accent 1400, and I operate it by using a little white dot on my glasses, because I have very poor speech and poor control of my arms and hands.
If I have not got a communication aid to hand, I point to things with my head and hands. I can nod my head to say yes and to say no, I shake my head. I like to live as independently as much as possible.
I do not like being taken over and I cannot stand being patronised. I like to be spoken to in an adult tone. I do not like being bossed or manipulated or patted anywhere on my body in a childlike manner, as I have my own mind.
