This Top 20 Chartered Accountants is looking for a talented Audit Senior to join their busy team in London.
Your new role
As an Audit Senior in the busy London team, you will be working with a mixed client base, duties and responsibilities for a typical day-to-day are listed below:
- Prepare draft accounts and reviewing audit working papers of junior members of the team during fieldwork;
- Lead fieldwork teams on larger or higher risk audit clients;
- Identify key audit risks based on the background knowledge, thorough research, preliminary results and discussions with the client, and ensure appropriate work is done to address those;
- Being the first point of contact for the client whilst on-site and ensure any remaining queries are dealt with promptly even after the fieldwork has ended;
- Identify any areas of weakness in the clients system & controls and making reasonable recommendations for improvements;
- Keep the manager informed of any issues that arise with the client
- Discuss/agree any potential audit journals with the client during fieldwork;
- Raise any potential time overruns with the manager as they are identified;
- Be responsible for clearing review points and addressing any follow up queries until the date the audit report is signed.
- Maintain and develop technical ability by attending webinars and keeping abreast of technical development;
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, this Top 20 Chartered Accountants is ideally looking for someone who is Newly Qualified (ACA/ACCA/equivalent), they would also be open to those who are currently within a training contract (3 papers or fewer remaining) who are looking to take on more responsibility in the team. Below are some of the other key skills and attributes that this firm is looking for:
- Recent audit experience within a UK Chartered Accountants, including working with a wide range of clients - some accounts prep experience is also desirable
- Experience leading audits from planning to completion, including a small team reporting into you on engagements
- Good working knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards and any IFRS experience would be a bonus
- Ideally, you will have strong software skills, including the Microsoft packages and Pro-Audit.
- Strong communication skills
