Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Program Manager to lead our Quarterly Investment Reporting (QIR) program. In this pivotal role, you will ensure effective project governance and facilitate communication between key stakeholders while managing development resources based in Helsinki and Poland.

Job objectives and responsibilities

The Internal Audit Manager plays a crucial role in strengthening Mitie's internal control framework, assessing risk management capabilities, and providing independent assurance to the company's stakeholders on the effectiveness of processes and controls. The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on operational, financial, regulatory, and compliance-related audits and assurance advisory services. In addition, working alongside the investigation and internal controls teams, the role allows for end-to-end ownership of various activities including helping to shape the internal controls environment, assisting with internal investigations and ad-hoc advisory services to management.

The team reports to the Audit Committee and its work is visible to, and valued by, senior management and the Board. With a broad spectrum of internal audits, investigations, fraud monitoring and internal controls, the role offers a great opportunity to learn about the different business units within Mitie and to progress internally.



Key Responsibilities

· Apply business insights into the scoping of audits included in the Internal Audit Plan, ensuring that the audits provide adequate assurance to the Board and the Audit Committee

· Ensure all audits have clear timescales and milestones which have been agreed with the auditees

· Perform audits in accordance with internal auditing standards and company policies, ensuring timely completion

· Prepare and present clear and concise reports on audit findings, ensuring the controls properly mitigate the risks, are well-documented, supported by evidence, and clearly communicated to auditees

· Ensure corrective actions arising from internal audits protect and add value to the business and are tracked to completion

· Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels throughout the company

· Prepare and present to Senior Management and the Audit Committee on key findings from pivotal audits

· Maintain professional certifications and stay current with developments in internal audit, accounting, governance, risk management and regulatory compliance

· Maximise performance delivery and development, encouraging collaboration and empowerment

· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, promoting open communication channels and fostering a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement

· When required, undertake ad-hoc reviews/advisory projects requested by management



Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

· Qualified Accountant (CCAB qualification) with working experience of risk-based auditing and of internal audit

· Good working knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, Corporate Governance and Financial Reporting requirements

· Exposure to the commercial environment within a large and fast-moving organisation (preferably in FM/outsourcing)

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex issues and convey audit findings and recommendations in report format

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at a senior level, including presentation of proportionate and strategically aligned findings to senior management

· Able to inspire respect, trust and commitment within the businesses

· Demonstrate sound business/professional judgement through strength of character, independence of thought, risk awareness and commitment to culture and values

· Work well under pressure, with high levels of personal drive, energy and commitment

· Able to take personal responsibility for delivery, with a practical, ‘hands on' approach

· Experience of auditing within a transforming organisation and auditing of change and projects

Desirable

· IT/IS auditing knowledge and experience of Data analytics

You will be tasked with a wide range of audit engagements, these being operational and financial. What you'll need to succeed

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualifications.
• 3 or more years experience in industry.
• Willingness to travel internationally, up to 40%.
• Experience within a manufacturing or logistics business is desirable.

What exactly will you be doing?

As a Customer Operations Senior Advisor at AAT, you will play a crucial role in ensuring excellence in the service we deliver for our customers. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing complex and high-risk queries across multiple channels, while completing and overseeing operational processes in key areas. You will be taking a proactive approach in identifying and driving improvements to our customer journeys.


Major objectives

The key objectives for the role are:

Manage complex and high-risk queries and complaints across various communication channels
Assessing key applications and making risk-based decisions in line with relevant processes and regulatory requirements
Work proactively to achieve both team and organisational targets, including Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Spearhead improvements to processes and customer journeys, including identifying enhancement opportunities and developing support materials
Develop excellent relationships with other teams within the Customer and Account Management Division and across the organisation to ensure a coordinated approach to all AAT activities
Deliver consistently high-quality service to both internal and external customers through effective and courteous communication
Support the induction and training of colleagues, providing ongoing guidance on complex and high-risk queries


What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will possess:

Prior experience working within a professional membership body
Experience of working within regulated environments and an understanding of the importance of adhering to strict regulatory standards
Strong skills in Microsoft packages and CRM systems
The ability to communicate with customers and colleagues confidently and clearly, both verbally and in writing
An eye for detail, with sharp analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and experience of challenging existing ways of working to improve processes
The ability to make informed and well-reasoned conclusions based on the information available, taking full accountability and ownership of decisions
Experience in call centre operations and complaint management
A track record of delivering training and providing continuous support to junior colleagues
A customer-centric approach with a focus on both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organisational skills with keen attention to detail

A day in the life:
You will:

Report to the Assistant Director of Financial Services, providing adhoc support as required
provide cover to the Finance Manager – Management Accounting as required. The Finance Manager for Management Accounting will also provide covering support as required
ensure the Transactions team have support where required for Accounts Payable, Banking and Rent accounting
contribute to project working groups as required with the wider business
ensure all Financial accounting systems are providing accurate and reliable data
ensure that the trial balance is reconciled for annual financial statements
prepare the annual FVA submission file
prepare returns or surveys for NROSH, The ONS or FCA
ensure that value for money calculations are accurate
supervise the Financial officers responsible for AP and Rents processing
ensure the AP team process invoices efficiently and in line with Wandle Policiesensure all reconciliations for Banks, Rents, AP and AR are completed each period in a timely manner
provide relevant AR reporting to support credit control processes
provide reporting to ensure Purchase Orders are raised in accordance with policy
work with the Governance Transition Manager to ensure successful implementation of the Dynamics/Redkite automated rent uplift solution
lead on regular training of Social Rent Accounting (Formula rent, affordable rents, etc.)
lead the budgeting process for annual rent increases
ensure accuracy of rental transactions and rental accounts within the Dynamics system
input to the year end and internal audit process as required, producing data flows and trails to support all areas of reporting
be a key part of ensuring systems work within the Finance Team
ensure the data set is consistently allocated at property and scheme level
summarise reporting on a development-by-development basis
enhance budget detail and monthly comparisons to actuals.


What you’ll need:

An attention to detail
Experience of reporting within the Social Housing sector with an understanding of the technical accounting and reporting requirements this entails
Be fully qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with all staff
Proven experience in innovation and use of technology
Experience to continually drive and advance system improvement programmes within Finance
Setting and delivering to timetables as well as understanding of appropriate internal controls
Experience at operating at a senior level and to give confidence to the business that Finance data is robust, accurate and reliable
Strong collaborative skills to navigate the wider teams to deliver for our customer
