What You Will Do:
The DoD Financial Management/Audit Remediation Managing Consultant helps clients optimize all elements of their finance organization, including:
Leads audit remediation activities for multiple end-to-end business process areas to include the following responsibilities: developing/updating/reviewing process documentation (e.g., narratives and flow charts), designing solutions to address gaps in preparation for a financial statement audit (i.e. Notices of Findings and Recommendations (NFR)), assisting stakeholders with implementing corrective actions plans, and developing metrics for reporting on remediation progress;
Leads testing of FM internal controls and IT Complimentary User Entity Controls (CUEC) for design and operating effectiveness, as well as performs testing of corrective actions to validate new processes/controls are fully implemented;
Provides targeted area support based on Component (e.g., working capital fund audit readiness, etc.);
Creates and delivers client work products in accordance with project plans; and
Applies federal accounting, financial management, and audit knowledge/expertise when developing solutions and providing recommendations to client.
What You Will Need:
An ACTIVE and CURRENT SECRET federal security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or another related field from an accredited college or university.
FIVE (5) years of experience in supporting financial management, audit, change management, strategic communications, business process reengineering, data analytics, or financial management systems implementation initiatives.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Demonstrates experience with knowledge of federal accounting and auditing standards and guidance in relation to:
Familiarity with DoD systems including DAI, ADVANA, DPAS, TRIRIGA, , etc.;
Internal controls/A-123/RMIC;
Federal financial statement auditing;
Audit response/infrastructure;
Financial business process reengineering;
PP&E corrective action plan development and implementation;
Working knowledge of FASAB accounting standards such as SFFAS 6 and SFFAS 50; and
Familiarity with DoD FMR and property accountability guidance.
Demonstrates abilities and success with analyzing detailed finance and accounting processes to identify control gaps and improvement opportunities, facilitating audit requests, and planning and performing tests of controls and balances (substantive testing).
Demonstrates abilities and success with identifying and addressing client needs: actively participating in client discussions and meetings; communicating a broad range of Firm services; preparing concise, accurate work products that add value to the client.
Demonstrates abilities to create and contribute to a positive team environment by monitoring workloads of the team, while meeting client expectations; providing candid, meaningful feedback in a timely manner; keeping leadership informed of progress and issues.
Demonstrate an understanding of DoD property accountability and financial reporting in areas to include Construction-in-Progress, Real Property, General Equipment, and Internal-Use-Software.
Provide guidance, coaching, and quality assurance to junior staff.
Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to assist client personnel and staff in short- and long-term planning efforts, team planning discussions, prioritization and assisting in daily standups
Ability to effectively communicate with senior government clients, participate in and lead discussions, confidently discuss project status, and propose relevant and effective solutions.
Identify and manage project risks and issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive in client service and team-based environments, especially when tackling unstructured problems.
Strong attention to detail, well organized and ability to self-prioritize multiple activities.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
The annual salary range for this position is $109,100.00-$163,700.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
