Main Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this is a technical support position which offers the opportunity to work within a small in-house maintenance team. This position will ideally suit a person who has a broader skill set encompassing all aspects of general buildings maintenance.
On a day-to-day basis, the post holder will work directly with members of the maintenance team, other college staff and a variety of specialist suppliers and sub-contractors. Your new role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Producing and providing accurate forecasts of project costs to completion/final value
• Managing subcontractor accounts
• Monitoring cash flow and valuation plans
• Managing subcontractor tender processes
• Providing accurate reports of costs and values on the projects.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will have:

• Experience at an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor level
• Good working knowledge of NEC form of contract
• Sound interpersonal and organisational skills
• Experience working on water projects (ideal).

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Contractor Escort at HMP Bullingdon in Bicester. A category B, the prison has a capacity of 1,114 and is a resettlement prison with a focus on those at the start of their time in custody, those preparing to transition back to their communities and individuals on remand.

Your new role

Working as a Contractor Escort, you will be responsible for escorting contractors as they carry out maintenance work around the prison for a variety of different projects. This is a long-term temporary contract offering sociable, full-time hours, possible overtime, and an opportunity to kick-start a career within the prison service.

Duties will include:

* Booking in & escorting of all contractors, tools and vehicles within the establishment.
* Checking all tools and ensuring a current tool checklist is up to date.
* Supervision of the contractors at all times
* Ensure and enforce the wearing of PPE at all times.
* Maintain regular communication via radio net where appropriate
* Keep account of those in your charge and maintain proper order.
* To support with incidents as the 'first on scene' and work as part of a team to resolve the issues.
* To be aware of prisoners' rights and dignity and their personal responsibility.

You may be required to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time by your line manager/ project manager/ site manager. As appropriate, all necessary training will be provided to enable additional duties and responsibilities to be performed safely.

This role will require you to work Monday-Friday, 07.30 - 17:15 with an hour's unpaid lunch.

Premium rate: £14.00 p/h (inclusive of holiday)
Weekday Overtime: £18.62 p/h (inclusive of holiday)
Weekend Overtime: £24.50 p/h (inclusive of holiday)

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to be hard-working, reliable, trust-worthy and have great attention to detail, alongside being an excellent team player. Any and all training will be provided for you on site when you start. Therefore, previous experience in the role is not necessary. All applicants who are interested in the position must pass Prison Clearance, which can take up to 2 months. Once passed, this will be valid for 5 years and can be transferred to other prisons of a similar category.

Experience and Training

* No formal qualifications are required.

* Successful applicants will ideally have a background in security or something similar but full training will be provided.* All applicants must be able to provide satisfactory references.

* All applicants must have indefinite leave to remain in the UK.

* All applicants must be willing to undergo security clearance and identity checks.

* Full training is provided by the establishment. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.
