List of responsibilities of Assistant Head, Operations & Development Department, include, but are not limited to:
1. Management Function
· Supervise the daily operations in the Hostel according to the SOPs.
· Ensure Youth Work Associates (YWAs) and Night Residential Care Worker (NRCW) understanding and alignment of practice with the overall philosophy
· Oversee staff relationship with residents and stakeholders.
· Manage staff morale, motivation and discipline in the department
· Monitor and develop staff competency and training in order to fulfill their evolving roles and responsibilities in the department
· Assist HOD to manage budget and manpower allocation
· Deliver Trauma-informed practices in daily staff and residents interactions/management.
· Coach and mentor new employee onboarding effectively with accurate and timely documentation records.
2. Role Function
· Cover the role of the shift staff when necessary
· Effective and fair roster planning to cater to the needs of the daily operations.
· Ensure adherence to the SOPs in the daily operations of the hostel
· Coach YWAs and NRCWs to perform their roles effectively
· Coordinate with other Departments when necessary
· Manage and oversee all documentations required for the department
· Assist HOD in preparation and submission of reports
· Assist HOD in managing crafting/reviewing/amending SOPs as per required
· Oversee all investigation and review investigation process/approach/techniques (Discipline Committee Chair)
· Oversee the all process in hostel
3. Development Function
· Assist HOH/HOD in roles and functions which are assigned.
· Assist HOD in planning the development of the YWA and NRCWs in the department.
· Assist HOD in reviewing current and implementing new process to meet requirements of the Ministry.
· Identify and attend courses/training for personal and professional growth and development.
4. Taskforce Involvement
· Able to lead taskforces within the department
· Able to represent the department to contribute in inter-department/inter-division taskforces
