Duties

- Ophthalmology Technicians in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) perform functions such as technical clinical care to patients who have received care provided by Ophthalmologists for diagnosis, treatment, prevention, follow-up care and patient counseling. Direction & Strategic Planning 40 %

• Has technical and administrative responsibility to provide staff supervision and evaluate all health-related programs and management policies pertaining to the agency. Participates in long-term strategic planning and exercises delegated decision making authority for resource management of the agency's research and development programs and policies and is responsible for evaluating the impact of current research standards on programs.
• The Deputy ACOS/R&D monitors the effectiveness of the interactive systems and procedures necessary to advance the research program in accordance with all principles, rules, and regulations affecting research within the VA. Position located in the Health Services Department at a Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) correctional facility.

Primarily responsible for providing emergency assessment and medical care to inmate patients.
