A beautician's job description includes providing a variety of cosmetic services to enhance a client's appearance and confidence. Beauticians are expected to be knowledgeable about beauty products and trends, and to be able to identify a client's needs. Some of their responsibilities include

• Serve as the Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist for an Army brigade sized unit.
• Deliver individual, group, and unit nutrition services and education to optimize Solder performance, overall unit readiness, and mission success.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team to communicate and coordinate programming appropriate to the needs of health and injured Soldiers.
• Conduct assessments to identify nutrition-related concerns of individuals and units.
• Develop comprehensive performance nutrition programs that improve foundational health and optimize environmental and task-specific performance.
• Execute and evaluate programs, services, education, and resources for performance enhancement.

• To oversee the function of all fitness programs ensuring safety, quality, implementation and promotion. Including but not limited to; Microfit testing, new program design, group exercise classes, interdepartmental development of fitness, working with special projects within the installation and special events. (i.e., certification workshops, health fairs, extracurricular activities.)
• Manages and supervises the day-to-day operation of the fitness center. Inspects and maintains equipment and facility in accordance with all established Navy and industry operational guidelines/standards. Ensures all repairs and maintenance of furniture, fixtures and equipment are completed in a timely manner.
• Supervises appropriate staff to include NF-0189-02 Recreation Assistants, NF-0189-01 Recreation Aids (Fitness) and/or NF-0188-03 Fitness Instructors. Oversees actions of frontline staff and contract instructors. Responsible for training, supervising and scheduling staff. Interviews and prepares necessary paperwork for approval for hiring personnel. Evaluates employee performance, initiates appropriate disciplinary action and recommends other pertinent personnel actions.
• Develops, coordinates, implements and continually modifies a comprehensive group exercise program consisting of a variety of class Ensures that all classes are taught in a safe and effective manner. Provides technical guidance to fitness instructors when necessary. Designs, organizes and carries out special events and health promotion projects in collaboration with fitness contractors and/or other installation staff. Provides information for publicity releases and coordinates with marketing professionals to maximize participation.
• Assists with developing annual budget requirements assigned areas. Analyzes financial data, reviews budget and submits reports and recommendations. Monitors all program revenue and expenses in areas of responsibility. Ensures reports and records are properly submitted. Submits completed Appropriated Fund (APF) and Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) purchase orders för equipment, parts, supplies and service contracts for approval.
• Creates and oversees a variety of exercise and wellness programs to include sate and beneficial exercise prescriptions cardiovascular fitness, weight loss, strength conditioning and flexibility. Ensures prescriptions are in accordance with American College or Sports Medicine guidelines. Identifies cardiovascular risk factors and other limiting conditions via medical health history questionnaires. Refers patrons to medical personnel when necessary. Supervises, instructs and demonstrates the proper and safe operation of exercise equipment. Ensures staff is properly trained in the use of cardiovascular fitness machines and strength training equipment. Monitors information given to patrons for accuracy.
• Oversees contract fitness instructors. Interacts and communicates with Navy Region Southwest MWR contracting office and payroll on behalf of the contractors. Complies with EEO policies and communicates support of these policies with subordinates. Assures quality in determining selections, assignments, training, promotions, qualifications, discipline and awards to employees.
• Research and/or creates educational materials for the bulletin boards, ensuring all information is current and meets ACSM or ACE standards.
• Checks equipment periodically and reports any damage to MWR Maintenance for repair.
• Checks areas which fall under cleaning contract for quality assurance and adherence to the agreement of contract schedule, Reports any discrepancies to contractor's Quality Assurance Supervisor.
• Prepares end of the month reports and pay sheets for contractors. Reconciles utilization and payments for classes.
• Must exercise tact, good manners, diplomacy and courtesy when assisting clients and dealing with fellow employees.
• Presents fitness division information to the command on a regular basis.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Incumbent plans, designs and instructs a variety of group fitness classes for small and large groups. Participates in brainstorming sessions to develop programs, events and classes for a well-rounded physical fitness program. Keep up to date on the latest fitness trends and developments. Answers questions regarding programs offered through the Fitness Center and or other MWR Facilities/services available to the customer. Continuously evaluates the participation and interest level of fitness classes and programs from the standpoint of participant responses, resources, unforeseen developments, and program objectives. Recommends program changes and variations as necessary to the Fitness Coordinator. Endures cleanliness of exercise spaces and equipment and reports general wear and tear of collateral equipment. In charge of setting up and breaking down room pre and post exercise class.

Knowledge Required by the Position
Must possess and maintain a current CPR and AED Certifications and must possess nationally recognized certification in Group Exercise.

Guidelines
Guidelines include DOD manuals, directives, OPNAV instructions pertaining to physical readiness standards and Standards Operating Procedures. Incumbent will ensure that the Fitness Center operations comply with all OSHA, BUMED, DOD, BUPERS and local safety guidelines.

Scope and Effect
The purpose is to promote maximum participation and interest group fitness activities.

Personal Contacts
The incumbent will interface with all patrons, including active-duty and retired military members, their dependents and authorized DOD civilian personnel as well as other department employees.

Purpose of Contacts
Contacts are for the purpose of educating and motivating current and potential patrons. The incumbent must be able to exercise good judgement and display as sound personal character and cooperative demeanor in serving the military community.

Physical Demands
This position requires a high level of physical fitness and may instruct numerous fitness class per day.

Work Environment
Work is outdoors as well as being performed in a Fitness Center setting. Both settings will require safety precautions to avoid muscle strain or other bodily injury. Indoor work area is will lighted and properly ventilated. Outdoor area will be lighted and stable

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide professional advisory and support in the aspect of fitness & wellness

Job Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least a Professional Certificate/NiTEC relating to fitness/sports.

• Assists with fitness and MWR events (competitions, challenges, races).
• Instructs patrons on the proper use of all equipment for training and self-monitored progress by preparing written instructions and procedures for the performance of work, use of equipment, safety and well-being of all involved.
• Assists patrons on the fitness floor by providing training tips in order to prevent unsafe or ineffective exercise techniques.
• Prepares written instructions and procedures for performance of work, use of equipment, safety, and well-being of all involved.
• Provides instructions on the proper implementation and maintenance of conditioning and training programs for aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, body composition, and flexibility training.
• Conducts fitness testing, which includes measuring aerobic capacity, body composition, muscular strength, flexibility, muscular endurance, and blood pressure.
• Stays current with latest fitness programming ideas to increase attendance and improve customer satisfaction.
• Conducts fitness orientation classes which include providing patrons with a tour of the facility, reviewing rules and regulations, and introducing patrons to cardiovascular, free-weight, and resistance machines.
• Establishes/reviews the schedule of events, conducts tours, sets-up/prepares gymnasiums/facilities/playing fields prior to scheduled start time for fitness events.
• Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures.

• Provides certified personal training and group exercise services to active-duty military as outlined in the Navy's Physical Readiness Program instruction.
• Assists with the instruction of the Command Fitness Leader course and fitness related general military training.
• Works with various command representatives to develop and implement physical fitness programs for military personnel.
• Assists Fitness Director and/or Coordinator with outreach and implementation of Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling Series (NOFFS), Mission Nutrition/ Command Fitness Leader Courses, and other CNIC Headquarters supported/endorsed programs.
