A summary of the duties is mentioned below but not limited to:

• Providing occupational health services at the West Haven VA Medical Center/VA Connecticut Health Care, VHA employees.
• Assessing, diagnosing, and treating work related injury or illness with an ongoing emphasis on planning and evaluating strategies for prevention and risk reduction.
• Providing limited primary care for non-work related illnesses such as blood pressure checks, smoking cessation interventions, or brief counseling on stress management to enable the employee to remain on the job, if possible, and to reduce the risk of spreading communicable diseases to other staff and/or patients.
• Conducting pre-placement physicals to determine potential employees' fitness for duty, completing fitness for duty exams on existing employees, and making recommendations to Human Resources regarding the need for restrictions or accommodations.
• Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to provide quality care, patient education, participate in research activities, and assist employees in acute and chronic rehabilitation techniques.
• Conducting comprehensive histories and physicals, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, initiating and adjusting therapeutic regimens, initiating consults and referrals, prescribing medications, and serving as a Medical Review Officer (MRO).
• Serving on NFSG VA HCS, VISN, and/or national committees and assisting in thedevelopment, evaluation, and communication of occupational health related policies and standards in accordance with VHA directives, NFSG VA HCS policies, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), US Department of Labor Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP), State regulations, and any other applicable rules or regulations.

About the Role:

This role is part of a project focused on empowering Southwark residents by addressing various barriers to employment. You will provide personalised support and guidance through regular coaching sessions, helping clients reach their full potential and secure job opportunities that align with their goals and mental health support needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a growing caseload of up to 20-25 clients (starting with 4-5 and building over time)
• Provide comprehensive employment support including CV writing, job search assistance, and application support
• Help clients identify and access relevant training courses, apprenticeships, volunteer positions, and internships
• Offer careers advice, interview coaching, and confidence-building exercises
• Build and maintain relationships with local employers to facilitate job placements
• Collaborate with local referral sources including the council, Talking Therapies, and self-referrals

Location:
This role is based in Southwark, with a focus on community outreach. You'll be primarily based on site with occasional meetings at the second office nearby (once or twice a month).
