The University of South Wales, a member of the Teaching Excellence Alliance, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in the Forensic Sciences. Working as a member of the dynamic Biological and Forensic Sciences team, you will be part of the larger Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science.



This exciting opportunity is a full-time, permanent position and is based at the Glyntaff campus in Pontypridd.



The successful candidate will be expected to make a key contribution to the design and delivery of the wide educational portfolio which will focus upon teaching, assessment, and knowledge exchange activities for the forensic science subject area. This role requires an educator who will inspire student engagement and improve student outcomes and experience.



As a new member of an expanding team, you will be expected to manage and deliver modules from our undergraduate and postgraduate forensic science and forensic investigation curriculum. You will also be required to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects and expand your own research portfolio.



Candidates selected for this position should possess knowledge and expertise in essential forensic science disciplines to enhance and support the forensic science curriculum at USW. The primary focus of this role involves trace evidence, laboratory methods, and analysis utilising a wide array of instruments to support the diverse forensic portfolio at USW. The University of South Wales is seeking to appoint two Lecturers in Policing Practice and Criminology. We are currently in partnership with five Police Forces and have recently won the contract to deliver to two new partner forces, South Wales Police and Gwent Police. We have dedicated delivery teams based in each Force working in collaboration with police personnel. Our courses are blended in nature and consist of both online and in-person delivery, approximately a 50:50 split. Whilst we are seeking to identify talented individuals to work across our entire provision, we have a particular demand in the Dorset and Devon and Cornwall areas.
The post holder will contribute to the delivery of the Subject’s growing undergraduate and postgraduate policing related awards. The post holder will be responsible for providing effective and high-quality learning opportunities via both blended and face-to-face teaching practices, for student officers off and on campus. The post holder will also be required to contribute to an excellent student experience for all apprentices/students and provide appropriate support and pastoral care for them. A key part of this role relates to the collaborative aspect of delivering operational policing programmes and will involve ensuring that key stakeholders work together to deliver programmes that align to the requirements of police force(s), the College of Policing and USW. Part of this role will also include scholarly activity and the undertaking of applied research to enable knowledge transfer to internal and external stakeholders.
Applicants will have relevant policing knowledge or experience and ideally a recognised Higher Education teaching qualification, although we will consider applications on a case-by- case basis. If you do not possess a teaching qualification relevant to the context of Higher Education, if appointed you will be enrolled on the internal Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education scheme.
This position relates to the development and provision of the off-campus policing practice courses within our partner force areas, as such, you will be based at the police training facilities. The post holder will also be required to travel to one or more of our other partner forces from time to time, as well as undertake a short induction period based at the University of South Wales and occasional travel to USW thereafter. Due to the requirement to work from police premises, forces may also require applicants to undertake additional police vetting.

The Faculty of Business and Creative Industries is the largest faculty in the University of South Wales, spread across 3 campuses in Cardiff, Pontypridd and Newport.

Our Creative Industries courses are based in our purpose-built facility, in Central Cardiff where over 2,500 students study a wide variety of creative courses from Fashion to Games, Journalism and Film.




We are seeking a flexible and adaptable Technical Instructor to support the delivery of our courses, working with students, academic staff and partners on our Cardiff campus to deliver support for a variety of creative subject areas.




Working as part of a highly skilled team, you will be responsible for providing in-depth instruction to students across the faculty on our specialist spaces, such as TV, radio and live streaming studios, as well as a wide range of portable equipment used for filmmaking.




Strong team working skills will be essential in this role which will involve working with both technical and academic colleagues as well as other teams across the university to support the delivery of the full range of current and future FBCI undergraduates and postgraduate courses.




This is a full-time, permanent post, working both on-campus and on location, as required with occasional evening and weekend work.

The Welsh Institute of Performance Science (WIPS) is a collaborative partnership between the Faculty of Life Sciences and Education at University of South Wales (USW) and Sport Wales Institute (SWI). WIPS was launched to promote, facilitate and conduct multidisciplinary research on behalf of SWI. Specifically, we work closely with theme lead staff at SWI in Athlete Development, Health and Wellbeing, and Athlete Environments, to answer high-performance questions. In doing so, WIPS aims to support the development and performance of athletes across Wales both in the short and long term. WIPS also strives to secure research funding from International Governing Bodies and European research funding councils to ensure a sustained approach to research.



USW are seeking a Research Fellow to support the general research activities of WIPS. The role is positioned to support research across all themes, with a specific focus on sport psychology and coaching science, and is aligned with the WIPS’ Research Steering Group (https://www.swansea.ac.uk/sports-science/astem/wips/areas-expertise/).



The successful applicant will be motivated, organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a wider team. The ability to work to deadlines, with excellent attention to detail, as well as good interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The successful candidate will have a good undergraduate (honours) and postgraduate research degree (e.g., PhD; ProfDoc) aligned to the disciplines (e.g., sport psychology, coaching, performance) associated with the role. Extensive and highly competent qualitative and quantitative research skills are essential, with extensive working knowledge of the design and analysis of larger projects.



The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a hybrid-model of working, which will include working remotely, at USW, and at Sport Wales Institute (Sofia Gardens, Cardiff) to facilitate the timely completion of research projects. They should also expect to travel to other locations to meet sport representatives as the need occurs and at times dictated by the nature of elite sport environments.

The highly successful Student Recruitment Team within Future Students is seeking to appoint an Assistant Officer to support its progression activity with schools and colleges in the Newport and Gwent regions. A key element of the role will be to maintain and develop key relationships with internal and external stakeholders (such as Coleg Gwent colleagues, Newport and Gwent schools and City of Newport Council) and to support the strategy for recruitment to the University’s Newport campus, as well as recruitment of students from the Gwent region. The post-holder will encourage progression to USW and highlight opportunities for further study at Level Four in the City. The successful candidate will deliver outreach and engagement activity focused in Newport, and will grow awareness of the careers and employment in Newport that links to USW and Coleg Gwent provision.


Under the leadership of the Outreach and Engagement Officer for Gwent and Newport, the role will involve delivering presentations and workshops to large audiences of students, parents, and teachers, as well as organising events and outreach activities for students from Newport and the Gwent region, to provide an insight into life and studying at USW.
