Applications are invited for the post of a Senior Clinical Fellow in UGI Surgery, for a fixed term period of 12 months starting in April 2025.

The UGI surgery unit at UCLH is a centralised unit for OG cancers in the North Central and North East Thames region. In addition to the surgery unit, there are strong and well established oncology and gastroenterology departments.



This post is intended to be a training clinical and leadership Fellowship for a Senior Upper GI post-CCT trainee with advanced OG and laparoscopic skills aiming for a career in OG cancer surgery. There is a sizeable volume of experience in benign and emergency OG surgery to be gained as well..

The post holder will be required to participate in the 1:4.5 consultant-level on-call Rota for OG surgery. No commitments will be expected for general surgery on-call.

The NHNN is an internationally renowned hospital for clinical practice and world-class clinical research in neurosciences. It is also closely associated with the Institute of Neurology (ION). The Unit for Functional Neurosurgery provides a comprehensive elective neurological and neurosurgical service for the UCLH Trust, a large area of North Central and West London and its associated hospitals and the local community/GPs. In addition, there are large numbers of National and International referrals to specialist Neurosurgical services.

This post offers a unique opportunity as the successful candidate will be an integral part of the Functional Neurosurgical Unit. The post is fixed term for 1 year which is suitable for a neurology trainee who wishes to develop their skills and gain experience of movement disorders/functional neurosurgery in a major centre of excellence.

Responsibilities of the post include participation in neurology clinics, performing levodopa challenges and post-operative management of Functional Neurosurgical patients and being an integral member of Functional Neurosurgical multidisciplinary team. There is an expectation that you would have dedicated time for professional supervision and development of trainee/junior doctors within the department, undertake research, publish in peer reviewed journals and present at National &/or international conferences. The post is an ideal stepping-stone for an experienced trainee to gain further experience in neurovascular surgery.

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Asthma Service. This is for a one -year fixed term contract.

The role will involve supporting the asthma service, and helping to develop and deliver pathways which result in excellent patient care and reduced waiting times.

There will be a focus on introducing an app- based tool to support patients with asthma management.

The potholder will support the wider asthma service in a variety of ways including, providing rapid access clinics, case finding, pre assessment telephone clinics, face to face clinics, community link and liaison between primary and secondary care. There will be an education component to the role, primarily for internal staff but also for our local community referrers. There will also be some audit and research opportunities. The potholder will also be responsible for mentoring junior members of the team.

The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience working with patients who have asthma. This could be in a ward, community or outpatient setting. They must be able to practice autonomously and be self-directed, but also be able to operate efficiently as part of a team. They will demonstrate an eagerness to learn and develop and have a passion for education.

1. Case finding within the trust, and the community via MDT’s and diagnostic hubs
2. Support asthma management, by reviewing patients using asthma app, and using information gathered to triage referrals effectively
3. Pre-clinic assessment; to support one-stop clinics and straight to test opportunities
4. New patient asthma clinic for patients who have been through MDT triage process
5. Deliver patient centered care by acting as a point of contact for patients and GP’s ensuring there is a community link with primary care services.
6. Supporting patient initiated follow up (PIFU): educating patients when to self-manage and when to trigger PIFU.
7. Education and training. To support the education promotion of strategies for the long term and acute management associated with asthma across the community and the trust.
8. Undertake assessment of individuals using a range of different assessment methods, which may include physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests or advanced health needs assessment.

As a senior research pharmacy technician (or Science Manufacturing Technician) you will be part of the pharmacy clinical trials team facilitating this research. Your key role is to set up new studies, maintain current and historical studies, and oversee the storage and receipt of clinical trials medicines. You will also be an important part of the team providing a high-quality dispensary service to our patients.


The postholder will acquire a broad overview of injectable research medicines, research delivery, dispensary management, and research governance, therefore would suit anyone with an interest in these areas. Prior experience of clinical trials or hospital pharmacy is desirable but not required.

Ideally you will be a GPhC registered pharmacy technician with 1-2 years’ experience although all training and support will be provided by our supportive team including our education & training lead. Those wishing to enrol on formal training courses can do so via external (on application) and in-house learning & development programmes.

We are the specialist surgery centre for patients undergoing major prostate oncology surgery and focal therapy in north and northeast London. UCLH provides non-surgical treatment modalities for prostate including proton beam radiotherapy, medical and clinical oncology inclusive of a clinical trial portfolio.

A Prostate Cancer CNS is a highly trained nurse who provides expert care, support, and guidance to patients with cancer throughout their treatment journey. They serve as a key point of contact, offering emotional support, managing symptoms, coordinating care, and helping patients navigate complex treatment options. The CNS plays a critical role in improving patient outcomes and ensuring personalized, holistic care.

We provide support & direct admission from our busy Emergency Department (which sees upwards of 130,000 patients annually), and we take complex external referrals. Current studies include interventional trials of medicinal products (Phase I to IV) and observational projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with clinicians and academics in a close-knit team of research nurses and coordinators. They will be expected to develop their clinical skills and knowledge to support participants with study participation.

This is a varied role suitable for a highly proficient person with great communication skills who enjoys working across multiple projects in a collaborative manner. Candidates should be proficient computer users and have an interest in clinical research and rheumatology.
• The successful candidate will work according to Good Clinical Practice, relevant professional standards and guidelines to recruit to and manage a portfolio of clinical research studies.
• Act as a patient advocate, promote wellbeing needs and support patients through their clinical research journey.
• Assist with patient recruitment, screening and conducting study visits for research participants, including patient assessment, data collection sample collection (including phlebotomy) and sample processing, monitoring of adverse reactions and compliance.
• Assist with day to day coordination of clinical trials and studies, including management of study documents, data collection and study consumables.
• Ensure study protocols and procedures are adhered to in accordance with local practice and GCP guidelines.
• Be proactive in establishing personal development needs and attend training courses.
• Contribute to organisation of department and creation of standard operating procedures.
• Be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing with colleagues and patients.
• Effectively manage own workload, use effective decision-making skills and evaluate the process and results.
• Liaise with external key stakeholders where appropriate.
• Assist with study set and management of designated studies.
• Participate in quality improvement projects and audit, contribute to conference posters and publications as required.
