The Team

The AHL Investment and Data Implementation (IDI) team is organised into small cross-functional teams, spanning Hong Kong, London & Sofia, with responsibilities for the implementation of all AHL new business (Funds, Investment strategies, new asset classes, new markets, etc.), the integrity of the inputs (data & parameters) and outputs (model signals) from the systematic models and long-term strategic development of our systematic trading platforms and processes.

IDI work closely with Portfolio Managers, Quantitative Research, Trading, Technology, Risk, Business Management, and external counterparts to ensure the smooth running of the end-to-end trading process, testing, and implementation of portfolio research changes across a variety of research and strategic platform initiatives.

To achieve this efficiently and effectively, IDI leverages both the varied background of its members, including Computer Science, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Business Management and Finance, plus a combination of an extensive relationship network spanning across all of Man Group (not just within AHL). The team also leverages their wide skillset including empirical research, Technology (namely Python and SQL), creativity, project management and critical thinking.

The Role

IDI are seeking a highly motivated professional with strong communication and data analytics skills with the ability to consistently apply critical thinking to a wide range of business problems.

IDI members are responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of AHL’s systematic trading system and models, data integrity, the accurate implementation of all new business initiatives, new research ideas and risk management parameters as well as collaborating with an array of stakeholders and coordination of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the ongoing drive for data integrity (market & static) used for systematic trading algorithms and by the quantitative research teams

The Team

AHL Portfolio Management is the team responsible for the portfolio construction and investment management of the firm’s flagship funds as well as the AIS (AHL Investment Solutions) business. The team has been running for several years. It manages a diverse set of funds both in terms of trading styles and asset classes. It is also responsible for portfolio construction as well as allocation research inside AHL.

The Portfolio Management area is split into three sub teams: Analytics, Monetisation and Engineering.

The Portfolio Analytics team’s purpose is to deliver quantifiable, transparent, and actionable insights into our research process.

The Portfolio Monetisation team’s purpose is to maximise the dollar output of our research in our funds.

Finally, the Portfolio Engineering team’s purpose is to innovate in how we deliver alpha to clients.

Portfolio Analytics

As part of its mandate, the Portfolio Analytics team is ultimately responsible for delivering transformative actionable insights on the entire estate pipeline, from signal to fund level information. We are an integral part of the decision-making process within AHL for where resources and research efforts are allocated, and our work is a fundamental node in the feedback loop of Portfolio Management and AHL processes.

Team members of Portfolio Analytics team need to be technically strong, write good code rapidly, have strong attention to detail, an aptitude for understanding the internal workings of systems and processes, and a natural talent for uncovering insights.

The ideal candidate will be involved in several areas:

• Working with and analysing a vast amount of data

As a Quant Developer at AHL you will be working hand-in-hand with our Quant Researchers. Your challenges will be varied, and will involve implementing new trading strategies, building new research frameworks and quant libraries, prototyping new data feeds, development of new portfolio construction techniques or building risk analysis tools

Job Profile Summary:

The role is responsible for ensuring the smooth running and stability of various systems across the business, spanning front and back offices. This will include troubleshooting, resolving issues as they arise, and thinking of ways to reduce common problems. The TechSupport team is an initial point of contact for troubleshooting all IT-related issues remotely and in person. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities:

·       1st and 2nd line troubleshooting, managing issues associated with Windows, Mac, VDI and mobile devices, including software deployments via SCCM, JAMF, and Intune on mobile devices.

·       Work directly with end users across the company hierarchy to provide exceptional and courteous customer service.

·       Diagnose and resolve software and hardware issues across operating systems (Windows 10, 11 and macOS) in-person and remotely.

·       Resolve common remote access problems, such as account lockouts, troubleshooting VPN/MFA connections and Citrix remote desktop/application challenges.

·       Logging incidents and requests within ServiceNow, effectively prioritising their workload, and escalating tickets to specialist technical functions as appropriate.

·       Document the solutions, troubleshooting steps, and procedures to enhance the knowledge base for the team.

Key Skills & Experience:

·       Experience working within a fast-paced technical support environment or role where user experience is the primary focus.

·       A motivated individual who has worked in a similar position with a robust skillset in technology support. Previous experience in a financial services organisation is highly preferred.

·       A background in providing white glove support to our VIP user base, ensuring high customer satisfaction.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

·       The ability to deploy and support Windows and macOS-based devices alongside Apple and Android devices in an MDM environment.

·       Capable of identifying complex issues across our core technologies and understanding the appropriate time to engage senior stakeholders.

·       Experience with automation tools (such as Power Automate) and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python) would be hugely beneficial.

Core Python Platform Engineer

The Role

Python is the cornerstone of technology at Man, essential for developing strategies and processes across all investment teams. The Python Platform team caters to a wide array of use cases—from GLG Portfolio Managers who use Python to automate their investment processes to AHL and Numeric developers and researchers crafting systematic strategies.

We oversee and enhance core libraries, ensuring seamless integration with our high-performance compute clusters and GPUs. Our team takes advantage of generative AI tools and leading-edge technologies, combined with a handpicked selection of open-source tools and frameworks, to keep our Python development environment at the forefront of innovation.

This role offers the chance to make a significant and highly visible contribution throughout Man Technology, while also providing you with an in-depth understanding of the Man Technology stack—knowledge that will be invaluable in future tech positions. A good candidate for this role will have a strong drive to optimise and refine our platform, while being receptive to the diverse requirements of our large user base.

Our Technology

Part of our work is also in Linux with Python code, using pandas and other libraries to support visualization and data processing.

Execution Developer

As an Execution Developer at Man you will be building the tools, platforms and algorithms that enable Man’s investment engines - AHL, Numeric and GLG - to drive forward their centralised global trading operation

The Role

AHL Portfolio Management is responsible for all of AHL’s fund optimisation and allocation research along with monitoring our fund performance and reviewing our quant process. As manager of the PM Tech team, you will be responsible for AHL's simulation, analytics, and reporting infrastructure; for monitoring our gearing, allocations and implementation shortfall; along with developing and supporting our production optimisers and the engineering needed to implement any outcomes of Portfolio Management research.

Our systems are almost all running on Linux and most of our code is in Python, with the full scientific stack: numpy, scipy, pandas, scikit-learn to name a few of the open-source libraries we use extensively. We implement the systems that require the highest data throughput in Java and C++.

We use Airflow for workflow management, Kafka for data pipelines, Bitbucket for source control, Jenkins for continuous integration, Grafana + Prometheus for metrics collection, ELK for log shipping and monitoring, Docker and Kubernetes for containerisation, OpenStack for our private cloud, Ansible and Terraform for architecture automation, and Slack for internal communication. We heavily utilise ArcticDB (https://arcticdb.io/) our in-house developed DataFrame Database. Our technology list is never static: we constantly evaluate new tools and libraries.

Essential

• Substantial quant development engineering experience
• Excellent team management and communication skills
• A knowledge of a modern data-science stack
• Demonstrable programming experience, ideally in Python, Java, (C++ desirable)

The Team

The Man AHL Investment Risk team is a part of the wider Man Group Risk function and is responsible for risk management, monitoring and risk-related research across Market, Liquidity and Counterparty Risk. The team is responsible for risk management across the full range of AHL funds and strategies and works closely with Portfolio Management, Research, Trading and Technology teams to resolve risk issues.

The team is responsible for independent research on new risk management techniques and improvements to existing risk analytics, including an internal risk model and Python code base.

AHL Risk relies on the strong quantitative and risk backgrounds across the team as well as programming, data analysis and communication skills.

The Role

AHL Risk are seeking a self-motivated Risk Manager & Researcher with a strong quantitative background to be part of a dynamic Risk Management team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Quantitative Risk Manager with intellectual curiosity and a desire to add value.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage risk across the business
• Work with all areas within the business – both within and outside AHL – to resolve risk issues as they arise
• Assist in building out the broader risk framework and analytical infrastructure – including internal risk models and code
• Conduct research into new risk measurement and management techniques
• Further develop the Man risk management framework and broaden awareness and good risk culture across all functions at Man
• Reporting relevant risk data and information to key stakeholders – both internal and external –  as and when required
• Training and support for all members of the wider risk team and to other areas within the firm

Specific responsibilities

• Ensure risk is well monitored and supervised across funds, and develop expertise in our risk management processes and infrastructure
• Working closely with PMs and investment teams to ensure awareness of the current risk profile and identify tools required
• Understanding, explanation and escalation of risk and performance drivers of strategies across the group
• Escalation of relevant information to Senior Management in timely fashion, communicated clearly and concisely, to ensure transparency of key risks across strategies

Base Salary Range: The anticipated based salary range for this position is $120.000-145,000 + benefits + a discretionary bonus.
