JOB TITLE: Retail assistant
HOURS: 38.75 hours: 5 days Monday to Saturday (9am-5.45pm, 45-min lunch and one 15-minute break)
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: Immediate
DURATION: Permanent
WAGES: At National minimum rates. EG annual salary £23,052 for 21YO+.
HOLIDAYS: 28 days including bank and public holidays. Being a small team, there are some restrictive conditions in connection with when holiday may be taken, as well as times when holiday is allocated (eg when the shop is closed).

MAIN DUTIES
• Advising customers with their purchases
• Processing sales through the till
• Preparing stock and putting it out on display
• Answering the telephone for customer enquiries
• Picking, packing and admin for dispatched orders
• Work associated with stock control
• Cleaning shelves and displays
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• A keen interest in providing high quality customer service is essential
• Clear speech and polite, efficient telephone manner is essential
• An active interest in all aspects of retail work is essential
• A good standard of numeracy is essential
• Previous shop floor customer service is an advantage
• An interest in art / crafts / creating is an advantage
• Basic computer and keyboard skills required
• Large range of products to learn about in order to assist customers
• No structured training – learning whilst carrying out duties
• Poor timekeeping is not tolerated
• A prompt finish to the day is not always possible
